[उ. ] गौतम ! उस (अनगार) के मन में (दृष्टि विपर्यय के कारण) इस प्रकार का विचार होता है कि वाराणसी नगरी में रहे हुए मैंने राजगृह नगर की विकुर्वणा की है और विकुर्वणा करके मैं वाराणसी के रूपों को जानता-देखता हूँ। इस प्रकार उसका दर्शन विपरीत होता है। इस कारण से ऐसा कहा जाता है कि वह यथार्थरूप से नहीं, किन्तु अन्यथाभाव से जानता-देखता है।
2. [Q. 1] Bhante ! Does he see and know that make-up realistically (tatha-bhaava) or unrealistically (anyatha-bhaava) ?
[Ans.] Gautam ! He does not see and know realistically (tathabhaava) but sees and knows unrealistically (anyatha-bhaava).
[Q. 2] Bhante ! Why is it said that he does not see and know realistically (tatha-bhaava) but sees unrealistically (anyatha-bhaava)?
[Ans.] Gautam ! That ascetic thinks (due to delusion) that while living in Varanasi city he had created Rajagriha city and doing that he sees and knows the make-up of Varanasi city. Thus his vision is opposite. That is why it is said that he does not see and know realistically (tathabhaava) but sees and knows unrealistically (anyatha-bhaava).
३. [प्र. ] अणगारे णं भंते ! भावियप्पा मायी मिच्छद्दिट्ठी जाव रायगिहे नगरे समोहए, समोहण्णित्ता वाणारसीए नगरीए रूवाइं जाणइ पासइ ?
[उ. ] हंता, जाणइ पासइ। तं चेव जाव तस्स णं एवं भवइ-एवं खलु अहं वाणारसीए नगरीए समोहए, समोहणित्ता रायगिहे नगरे रूवाइं जाणामि पासामि, से से दंसणे विवच्चासे भवति, से तेणट्टेणं जाव अनहाभावं जाणइ पासइ। __३. [प्र.] भगवन् ! मायी मिथ्यादृष्टि भावितात्मा अनगार, वाराणसी में रहा हुआ यावत् राजगृह नगर की विकुर्वणा करके क्या वाराणसी के रूपों को जानता और देखता है ?
[उ. ] हाँ, गौतम ! वह उन रूपों को जानता और देखता है। यावत्-उस अनगार के मन में इस प्रकार का विचार होता है कि राजगृह नगर में रहा हुआ मैं वाराणसी नगरी की विकुर्वणा करके तद्गत (राजगृह नगर के) रूपों को जानना और देखता हूँ। इस प्रकार उसका दर्शन विपरीत होता है। इस कारण से, यावत्-वह अन्यथाभाव से जानता-देखता है।
3. [Q.] Bhante ! Can an unrighteous (mithyadrishti) and maayi (under influence of passions) sagacious ascetic (bhaavitatma anagar)... and so on up to... while living in Varanasi city, see and know the makeup (houses and people) of Rajagriha city by creating a transmuted form of Varanasi city ?
[Ans.] Yes, Gautam ! He (the ascetic) sees the make-up (houses and people) of that city... and so on up to... that ascetic thinks (due to
