JBhante ! As man goes out (on some mission) with a sword and 41 leather shield in his hands; likewise can a sagacious ascetic 4
(bhaavitatma anagar) too fly in the sky to go on some mission (related to the religious organization or otherwise) with a sword and leather shield in his hands? ___ [Ans. Yes, (Gautam !) he can fly.
५. [प्र.] अणगारे णं भंते ! भावियप्पा केवइयाई पभू असि-चम्मपायहत्थ-किच्चगयाइं रूवाई विउब्बित्तए ?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! से जहानामए जुवइ जुवाणे हत्थेणं हत्थे गेण्हेज्जा तं चेव जाव विउव्विंसु वा ३।।

[प्र. ] भगवन् ! भावितात्मा अनगार कार्यवश तलवार एवं ढाल हाथ में लिए हुए पुरुष के जैसे म कितने रूपों की विकुर्वणा कर सकता है ? ॐ [उ. ] गौतम ! जैसे कोई युवक अपने हाथ से युवती के हाथ को (दृढ़तापूर्वक) पकड़ लेता है + (श. ३/१/३ के दृष्टान्त अनुसार), वैक्रियकृत रूपों से सम्पूर्ण जम्बूद्वीप को ठसाठस भर सकता है। यह * उसकी शक्ति मात्र है, किन्तु कभी इतने वैक्रिय रूप बनाये नहीं, बनाता नहीं और बनायेगा भी नहीं। 4. 5. (Q.) Bhante ! How many such human-forms on some mission and
equipped with a sword and shield a sagacious ascetic (bhaavitatma anagar) is capable of creating by transmutation (vikurvana)?
[Ans.) He can tightly pack the whole of Jambudveep continent, exactly like a young man tightly holding the hand of a young woman (as the example given in 3/1/3). However, Gautam ! This power is theoretical. In practice he has never performed transmutation aforesaid extant, neither he does, nor will he do.
६. [प्र. ] से जहानामए केइ पुरिसे एगओपडागं काउं गच्छेज्जा, एवामेव अणगारे वि भावियप्पा एगओपडागाहत्थकिच्चगएणं अप्पाणेणं उर्ल्ड वेहासं उप्पएज्जा ?
[उ. ] हंता, गोयमा ! उप्पएज्जा।
६. [प्र. ] जैसे कोई पुरुष एक हाथ में ध्वजा वाली पताका लेकर चलता है, इसी प्रकार क्या 9 भावितात्मा अनगार भी कार्यवश एक हाथ में एक पताका लेकर स्वयं ऊपर आकाश में उड़ सकता है ?
[उ. ] हाँ, गौतम ! वह आकाश में उड़ सकता है।
6. (Q.) Bhante ! As man goes out (on some mission) with a flag in one of his hands; likewise can a sagacious ascetic (bhaavitatma anagar) too fly in the sky to go on some mission with a flag in one of his hands?
[Ans.] Yes, (Gautam !) he can fly.
