क्रोधावेशग्रस्त चमरेन्द्र ने उसे कठोर शिक्षा देने का विचार किया । सोचा- "वहाँ जाने से पहले मुझे किसी अरिहंत, श्रमण आदि महापुरुष की शरण (निश्रा) लेना चाहिए, ताकि आपत्ति में फँसने पर मेरी रक्षा हो ५ 5 सके।" उस समय श्रमण भगवान महावीर अपने दीक्षा पर्याय के ग्यारहवें वर्ष में सुंसुमारपुर के उद्यान में एक रात्रि की महाप्रतिमा में ध्यानस्थ खड़े थे। ध्यान मुद्रा स्थित भगवान महावीर के निकट आकर वन्दना करके

शक्रेन्द्र के विमान के सामने जा पहुँचा । सिंहनाद कर, एक पैर पद्मवेदिका पर तथा दूसरा पैर सुधर्मा सभा में
रखकर चिल्लाता हुआ 'बोला- "अरे ! कहाँ है, देवराज शक्र ! कहाँ है उसके चौरासी हजार सामानिक देव !
कहाँ गईं वे करोड़ों अप्सराएँ। मैं आज ही सबका वध करके स्वर्ग को अपने अधीन बना लूँगा।" चकित हुए देवेन्द्र तथा सामानिक देव असुरराज को देखने लगे ।

चमरेन्द्र द्वारा सौधर्म कल्प में उपद्रव

एक बार नवोत्पन्न असुरराज चमरेन्द्र ने अवधिज्ञान से अपने ऊपर सौधर्मकल्प विमान को देखा। सौ ५ धर्मेन्द्र शक्र सिंहासन पर बैठा दिव्य स्वर्गीय सुखों का भोग करता दिखाई दिया। देखते ही असुरराज चमरेन्द्र का क्रोध भड़का- “अरे मेरे सिर पर यह कौन मूर्ख इस प्रकार निर्लज्जता पूर्वक बैठा है ?" सामानिक देवों ने बताया- "यह सौधर्मेन्द्र देवराज शक्र है ।"
Once newly born Chamarendra, the overlord of Asur Kumars, saw Saudharma Vimaan overhead. He saw Saudharmendra Shakra sitting on his throne and enjoying divine pleasures.
卐 In fit of anger Chamarendra thought of teaching him a lesson. He thought-"Before going there I should seek refuge and auspices of some Arihant, Shraman or other great man so that if something untoward happens I
may be saved." At that time Shraman Bhagavan Mahavir, during his eleventh year of initiation, was standing in meditation observing Mahapratima of one night in a garden in Sumsumarpur. Chamarendra came there and after paying homage said "Bhante ! I want to personally deprive Shakrendra, the king of gods, of his grandeur under your auspices."

On seeing this Chamarendra was enraged-"Hey! Who is this fool so
carelessly perched over my head ?" Gods of same status informed him-"He is Shakra, the overlord of Saudharma Kalp.”
