16. [Q. 1] Bhante ! Of the three kinds of Nairayik samsar samsthan 卐 kaal-Shunya kaal, Ashunya kaal and Mishra kaal-which one is more, 卐 less or equal as compared with the others ?
[Ans.) Gautam ! Minimum is Ashunya kaal, Mishra kaal is infinite times more than that and Shunya kaal is further infinite times more than that. [2] Of the two kinds of samsthan kaal of animal beings minimum is Ashunya kaal and Mishra kaal is infinite times more than that. [3] The comparison of samsthan kaal of human and divine beings should be read as that of samsthan kaal of infernal beings.
१७. [प्र. ] एयस्स णं भंते ! नेरइयसंसारसंचिट्ठणकालस्स जाव देवसंसारसंचिट्ठणकालस्स जाव म विसेसाधिए वा ?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! सव्वत्थोवे मणुस्ससंसारसंचिट्ठणकाले, नेरइयसंसारसंचिट्ठणकाले असंखेजगुणे, देवसंसारसंचिट्ठणकाले असंखेज्जगुणे, तिरिक्खजोणियसंसारसंचिट्ठणकाले अणंतगुणे। ॐ १७. [प्र. ] भगवन् ! नैरयिक, तिर्यंच, मनुष्य और देव, इन चारों के संसार-संस्थानकालों में है कौन किससे का, अधिक, तुल्य या विशेषाधिक है ? म [उ. ] गौतम ! सबसे थोड़ा मनुष्य संसार-संस्थानकाल है, उससे नैरयिक संसार-संस्थानकाल
असंख्यातगुणा है, उससे देव संसार-संस्थानकाल असंख्यातगुणा है और उससे तिर्यंच संसारसंस्थानकाल अनन्तगुणा है।
17. (Q.) Bhante ! Of the samsar samsthan kaals of the four-infernal beings, animals, human beings and divine beings—which one is more, less or equal as compared with the others ?
(Ans.] Gautam ! Minimum is the samsar samsthan kaal of human beings, innumerable times more than that is the samsar samsthan kaal of infernal beings, innumerable times more than that is the samsar samsthan kaal of divine beings and infinite times more than that is the samsar samsthan kaal of animals.
विवेचन : संसार-संस्थानकाल सम्बन्धी प्रश्न का उद्भव क्यों-कुछ लोगों की मान्यता है कि “पशु मरकर पशु ही है होता है और मनुष्य मरकर मनुष्य, वह देव या नारक नहीं होता। अनादि भवों में भी जीव एक ही प्रकार से रहता ॥
है।" इस भ्रान्त मत का निराकरण करने हेतु गौतम स्वामी ने यह प्रश्न उठाया है कि वह जीव अनादिकाल से एक ॐ योनि से दूसरी योनि में भ्रमण कर रहा है, तो अतीतकाल में जीव ने कितने प्रकार का संसार बिताया है ?
संसार-संस्थानकाल का अर्थ-संसार में एक भव (जन्म) से दूसरे भव में संसरण-गमन एवं स्थित रहने ॐ रूप क्रिया तथा उसकी अवधि संस्थानकाल है। संसार-संस्थानकाल तीन प्रकार का है-शून्यकाल, अशून्यकाल म और मिश्रकाल।
