उन्होंने उसके लिए मणिमंजूषा दी। उसने उसका ऊपरी खण्ड खोला। फैलाकर उसने शीघ्र पत्र पढ़ा कि किस प्रकार राजाओं का राजा योगी बन गया है और किस प्रकार दी जाती हुई भूमि छोड़कर अमिततेज भी उसका अनुगामी हो गया है? और किस प्रकार पुण्डरीक के सिर पर पट्ट बाँध दिया गया है। किस प्रकार अपने यौवन के अहंकार को छोड़ते हुए, राजस्त्रियों तथा धरती छोड़ते हुए माण्डलीक राजाओं ने दीक्षा ग्रहण कर ली। किस प्रकार पुत्रों ने तथा काम-क्रोध के समूह को नष्ट करनेवाली पण्डिता ने दीक्षा ले ली। किस प्रकार राजा अमिततेज भी चला गया। इसलिए तुम अब अपने भानजे का पालन करो। जो जैसा था वैसा लेख
ने कह दिया। तब उस सुधी ने सुधी के चरित्र की सराहना की कि देव ने यह अच्छा किया जो काम को पीड़ित करनेवाला और संसाररूपी अन्धकार के लिए सूर्य के समान तप ग्रहण कर लिया। उसके पुत्र ने भी अच्छा किया जो उसने नववय में व्रत संग्रहीत कर लिया।
धत्ता- वह राजा धन्य है जिसने काम को छोड़कर अपने मन में अरहन्त का ध्यान किया। निधि का घड़ा दिखानेवाली गृहदासी पृथ्वी के द्वारा कौन खण्डित नहीं किया गया ? ॥ १० ॥
