महापुराणे उत्तरपुराणम् संन्यस्यान्तपरित्यक्तदेहोऽयादहमिन्द्रताम् । ऊर्ध्वग्रैवेयके रम्ये प्रीतिकरविमानजः ॥ १४॥ एकत्रिंशत्समुद्रायुर्हस्तद्वयशरीरकः । शुक्ललेश्यो दिनैः पञ्चषट्चतुःसम्मितैः श्वसन् ॥ १५॥ एकत्रिंशत्सहस्राब्दैर्मानसाहारतपितः । तेजोवलावधिज्ञानन्यासाससमभूतलः ॥ १६ ॥ तत्क्षेत्रविक्रियझैशः 'सुसमापाहमिन्द्रजम् । २स्वायुरन्ते ततस्तस्मिन्नवनीमागमिष्यति ॥ १७ ॥ उजम्बूद्वीपेऽत्र कौशाम्यां पतिरिक्ष्वाकुवंशजः । गोत्रेण काश्यपो राजा धरणाख्यो महानभूत् ॥१८॥ तस्य देवी सुसीमाख्या रत्नवृष्टयादिमानिता । प्रभाते माघकृष्णायां षष्ठयां चित्रेन्दुसलमे ॥१९॥ गजादिषोडशस्वमवीक्षणानन्तरास्यगम् । निरीक्ष्य वारणं ज्ञातैस्तत्फलैः प्रमदान्विता ॥ २०॥ कृष्णपक्षे त्रयोदश्यो त्वष्ट्रयोगेऽपराजितम् । कार्तिके मास्यसूतैषा रक्ताम्भोजदलच्छविम् ॥ २१ ॥ अस्योत्पत्ती समुत्पत्तिर्गुणानां दोषसन्सतेः । ध्वंसो जातः शमः शोकः प्रमोदात्सर्वदेहिनाम् ॥ २२॥ मोहशत्रुहंतच्छायो नष्टोऽई वेति कम्पते । स्वर्गापवर्गयोर्मार्गे वाहकेऽस्मिन् भविष्यति ॥ २३॥ मोहनिद्रां विहास्यन्ति बहवोऽस्मिन् प्रबोधके । जन्मिनां जाति सम्बन्धविरोधश्च विनरुक्ष्यति ॥ २४ ॥ लक्ष्मीविकाशमस्यायात् प्रायात् कीतिर्जगत्त्रयम् । भभूदित्यादिसंलापो विदुषामितरेतरम् ॥ २५ ॥ तदानीमेव देवेन्द्रास्त मेरौ क्षीरवारिभिः। स्रपयित्वा विधायानुमुदा पनप्रभाभिधाम् ॥ २६ ॥ अभिष्टुत्य पुमर्मीत्वा मातुरङ्गे महापुतिम् । निधाय मुदिता नृत्यं विधाय प्रययुर्दिवम् ॥ २७ ॥
समस्तैः शैशवं तस्य मुदेन्दोरिव बन्यते । कः स यः सर्वमालाद्य वर्द्धमाने पराङ्मुखः ॥२८॥ बनमें जाकर पिहितालव जिनेन्द्रको दीक्षा-गुरु बनाया, ग्यारह अंगोंका अध्ययन कर तीर्थंकर प्रकृति का बन्ध किया और आयुके अन्तमें समाधिमरणके द्वारा शरीर छोड़कर अत्यन्त रमणीय ऊर्ध्वप्रैवेयकके प्रीतिंकर विमानमें अहमिन्द्र पद प्राप्त किया ॥ १२-१४ ॥ इकतीस सागर उसकी आयु थी, दो हाथ ऊँचा शरीर था, शुक्ल लेश्या थी, चार सौ पैंसठ दिनमें श्वासोच्छ्रास ग्रहण करता था, इकतीस हजार वर्ष बाद मानसिक आहारसे संतुष्ट होता था, अपने तेज, बल तथा अवधि-ज्ञानसे सप्तमी पृथिवीको व्याप्त करता था और वहीं तक उसकी विक्रियाऋद्धि थी। इस प्रकार अहमिन्द्र सम्बन्धी सुख उसे प्राप्त थे। श्रायुके अन्तमें जब वह वहां से चय कर पृथिवीपर अवतार लेनेके लिए उद्यत हुआ ।। १५-१७ ॥ तब इसी जम्बूद्वीपकी कौशाम्बी नगरीमें इक्ष्वाकुवंशी काश्यपगोत्री धरण नामका एक बड़ा राजा था। उसकी सुसीमा नामकी रानी थी जो रत्नवृष्टि आदि अतिशयोंसे सम्मानित थी। माघकृष्ण षष्ठीके दिन प्रातःकालके समय जब चित्रा नक्षत्र और चन्द्रमाका संयोग हो रहा था तब रानी सुसीमाने हाथी आदि सोलह स्वप्न देखनेके बाद मुखमें प्रवेश करता हुआ एक हाथी देखा। पतिसे स्वप्नोंका फल जानकर वह बहुत ही हर्षित हुई ।। १८-२०॥ कार्तिक मासके कृष्णपक्षकी त्रयोदशीके दिन त्वष्ट्र योगमें उसने लाल कमलकी कलिकाके समान कान्तिवाले अपराजित पुत्रको उत्पन्न किया ॥ २१॥ इस पुत्रकी उत्पत्ति होते ही गुणांकी उत्पत्ति हुई. दोषसमूहका नाश हुआ और हर्षसे समस्त प्राणियोंका शोक शान्त हो गया ॥ २२ ॥ स्वर्ग और मोक्षका मार्ग चलानेवाले भगवान्के उत्पन्न होते ही मोहरूपी शत्रु कान्तिरहित हो गया तथा 'अब मैं नष्ट हुआ' यह सोचकर काँपने लगा ।। २३ ।। उस समय विद्वानोंमें निम्न प्रकारका वार्तालाप हो रहा था कि जब भगवान सबको प्रबद्ध करेंगे तब बहुतसे लोग मोह-निद्राको छोड़ देवेंगे. प्राणियोंका जन्मजात विरोध नष्ट हो जावेगा, लक्ष्मी विकासको प्राप्त होगी और कीर्ति तीनों जगत्में फैल जावेगी ।। २४-२५॥ उसी समय इन्द्रोंने मेरु पर्वत पर, ले जाकर क्षीरसागरके जलसे उनका अभिषेक किया, हर्षसे पद्मप्रभ नाम रक्खा, स्तुति की, तदनन्तर महाकान्तिमान जिन-बालकको वापिस लाकर माताकी गोदमें रक्खा, हर्षित होकर नृत्य किया और फिर स्वर्गकी ओर प्रस्थान किया ॥२६-२७।। चन्द्रमाके समान उनके बाल्यकालकी सब बड़े हर्षसे प्रशंसा करते थे सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि जो

He named him Padma Prabha with joy, praised him, and then brought him back to his mother's lap, danced with joy, and then departed for heaven. || 26-27 || Everyone praised his childhood with great joy, just like the moon.
