श्रीनागदशसम्प्रोक्तां भावयज्ञाकमापिवान् । ततः पद्मलतां कम्यां धनञ्च पितृसञ्चितम् ॥ १३३ ॥ समाकर्षणरज्वावत्तायं भ्रातुर्निजस्य तौ । नकुलः सहदेवश्व रज्जुमाकर्षणोचिताम् ॥ १३४ ॥ अदत्वा पापबुद्ध्यास्मान्मङ्क्षु स्वपुरमीयतुः । छिद्रमासाद्य तनास्ति दायादा यच कुर्वते ॥ १३५ ॥ तौ दृष्ट्वा नागदशोऽपि युवाभ्यां सह यातवान् । किन्नायादिति भूपेन साशङ्केन जनेन च ॥ १३६ ॥ पृष्टौ सहैव गत्वासौ पृथक्क्वापि गतस्ततः । नाविद्वेति व्यधत्तां तावनुजावप्यपह्नवम् ॥ १३७ ॥ श्रीनागदशमातापि व्याकुलीकृतचेतसा । शीलदरां गुरुं प्राप्य समपृच्छत्तुजः कथाम् ॥ १३८ ॥ सोsपि तत्सम्भ्रमं दृष्ट्वा कारुण्याहितमानसः । निर्विघ्नं ते तनूजो दाङ् मा भैषीरागमिष्यति ॥ १३९ ॥ इत्याश्वासं मुनिस्तस्या व्यधात्सन्ज्ञानलोचनः । इतः श्रीनागदतोऽपि विलोक्य जिनमन्दिरम् ॥ १४०॥ किञ्चित्प्रदक्षिणीकृत्य निषीदाम्यहमित्यदः । प्रविश्य विहितस्तोत्र: सचिन्तस्तत्र संस्थितः ॥ १४१ ॥ तदा विद्याधरः कश्चित्तं दृष्ट्वा ज्ञातवृशकः । जैनः सवित्तं नीत्वास्माद् द्वीपमध्यान्मनोहरे ॥ १४२ ॥ वनेऽवतार्य सुस्थाप्य समापृच्छयादरान्वितः । यथेष्टमगमत्सा हि धर्मवत्सलता सताम् ॥ १४३ ॥ तत्समीपेऽनुजा प्रामे वसन्त्यस्यैत्य सादरम् । प्रत्यग्रहीद्धनं तत्र सोऽपि निक्षिप्य सुस्थितः ॥ १४४ ॥ अथोपगम्य तं स्नेहात् स्वानुजादिसनाभयः । कुमाराभिनवां कन्यां नकुलस्याजिधूक्षुणा ॥ १४५ ॥ श्रेष्ठिना वयमाहूता निस्सत्वाद्रिरूपाणयः । कथं तत्र प्रजिष्याम इत्यत्याकुलचेतसः ॥ १४६ ॥ अद्य सर्वेऽपि जाताः स्म इति ते न्यगदन्नसौ । तच्छ्रुत्वा साररत्नानि निजरत्नकदम्बकात् ॥ १४७॥ कि इसमें आपने क्या किया है यह मेरे ही पूर्वोपार्जित कर्मका विशिष्ट उदय है। इस प्रकार नागदत्त द्वारा कहे हुए पचनमस्कार मन्त्रकी भावना करता हुआ विद्याधर स्वर्गको प्राप्त हुआ । तदनन्तर पद्मलता कन्या और पिताके कमाये हुए धनको खींचने की रस्सीसे उतारकर जहाजपर पहुँचाया तथा सहदेव और नकुल भाईको भी जहाजपर पहुँचाया। नकुल और सहदेवने जहाजपर पहुँचकर पाप बुद्धिसे खींचनेकी वह रस्सी नागदत्तको नहीं दी और दोनों भाई अकेले ही उस नगरसे चलकर शीघ्र ही अपने नगर जा पहुँचे सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि छिद्र पाकर ऐसा कौन-सा कार्य है जिसे दायाद - भागीदार न कर सकें ।। १३१ - १३५ ।। उन दोनों भाइयोंको देखकर वहाँ के राजा तथा अन्य लोगों को कुछ शङ्का हुई और इसीलिए उन सबने पूछा कि तुम दोनोंके साथ नागदत्त भी तो गया था वह क्यों नहीं आया ? इसके उत्तरमें उन्होंने कहा कि यद्यपि नागदत्त हमलोगोंके साथ ही गया था परन्तु वह वहाँ जाकर कहीं अन्यत्र चला गया इसलिए हम उसका हाल नहीं जानते हैं। इस प्रकार उन दोनोंने भाई होकर भी नागदत्तके छोड़ने की बात छिपा ली ।। १३६ - १३७॥ पुत्रके न श्रनेकी बात सुनकर नागदत्तकी माता बहुत व्याकुल हुई और उसने श्री शीलदत्त गुरुके पास जाकर अपने पुत्रकी कथा पूछी ।। १३८ ।। उसकी व्याकुलता देख मुनिराजका हृदय दयासे भर श्राया अतः उन्होंने सम्यग्ज्ञान रूपी नेत्रप्से देखकर उसे आश्वासन दिया कि तू डर मत, तेरा पुत्र किसी विघ्न विना शीघ्र ही आवेगा । इधर नागदत्तने एक जिन-मन्दिर देखकर उसकी कुछ प्रद क्षिणा दी और मैं यहाँ बैठूंगा इस विचारसे उसके भीतर प्रवेश किया। भीतर जाकर उसने भगवानकी स्तुति पढ़ी और फिर चिन्तातुर हो कर वह वहीं बैठ गया ।। १३६ - १४१ ।। दैवयोगसे वहीं पर एक जैनी विद्याधर आ निकला । नागदत्तको देखकर उसने उसके सब समाचार मालूम किये और फिर उसे धन सहित इस द्वीपके मध्यसे निकालकर मनोहर नामके वनमें जा उतारा । तदनन्तर उसे वहाँ अच्छी तरह ठहराकर और बड़े आदरसे पूछकर वह विद्याधर अपने इच्छित स्थानपर चला गया सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि सत्पुरुषोंकी धर्म-वत्सलता यही कहलाती है ।। १४२ - १४३॥ उस मनोहर वनके समीप ही नन्दीग्राममें नागदत्तकी छोटी बहिन रहती थी इसलिए वह वहाँ पहुँचा और अपना सब धन उसके पास रखकर अच्छी तरह रहने लगा ॥ १४४ ॥ कुछ समय बाद उसकी बहिनके ससुर आदि बड़े स्नेहसे नागदत्तके पास आकर कहने लगे कि हे कुमार !

Sri Nagadatta, having contemplated the *Bhavayajna* mantra, then took the *Padmalata* maiden and the wealth accumulated by his father. || 133 ||

His brothers, Nakula and Sahadeva, with the rope used for pulling, pulled the *Padmalata* maiden and the wealth onto the ship. || 134 ||

With wicked intentions, they did not give the rope to Nagadatta and went to their own city. It is only natural for heirs to take advantage of any opportunity. || 135 ||

Seeing them, Nagadatta also went with his younger brothers. The king and the people, with suspicion, asked, "Where is Nagadatta?" || 136 ||

They replied, "He went with us, but then he went somewhere else. We don't know where he is." Thus, they concealed the fact that Nagadatta had left them. || 137 ||

Sri Nagadatta's mother, with a troubled mind, went to the *Shiladara* Guru and asked about her son. || 138 ||

Seeing her distress, the Muni, with a compassionate heart, reassured her, "Don't worry, your son will return soon without any obstacles." || 139 ||

The Muni, with the eyes of knowledge, gave her this assurance. Meanwhile, Nagadatta, seeing a Jain temple, circumambulated it and thought, "I will sit here." He entered the temple, performed the prescribed *stotra*, and sat there lost in thought. || 140 ||

At that time, a Jain *Vidhyadhara*, knowing Nagadatta's true nature, saw him and, taking him with his wealth, brought him to the middle of the island, to a beautiful forest called *Manohara*. || 142 ||

He settled Nagadatta there comfortably and, with great respect, asked him about his well-being. Then, he went to his desired place. This is the nature of the devotion to Dharma of the virtuous. || 143 ||

Near that *Manohara* forest, in the village of *Nandigrama*, Nagadatta's younger sister lived. He went there, deposited his wealth with her, and stayed there comfortably. || 144 ||

Later, his sister's father-in-law and others, with great affection, came to Nagadatta and said, "O Kumar! The merchant wants to take the newly arrived maiden for his son, Nakula. He has called all of us. But we are poor and cannot go there empty-handed. How can we go there and be accepted?" They were very worried. || 145 ||

Nagadatta said, "We have all become poor today." Hearing this, he took out some precious jewels from his treasure trove and said, "This is the result of my past karma. It is a special manifestation of my past deeds." Thus, Nagadatta, by contemplating the *Pancha-Nama-Skara* mantra, attained the *Vidhyadhara* heaven. || 146 ||
