This is narrated in the Mahapurana, as it is to be preserved. The maiden, taking the garland of jewels from the hand of the Kanchuki, 328. placed it around the neck of her brother, filled with great love. She, like another Lakshmi, adorned his chest. 326. Suddenly, a great sound arose from all the musical instruments. It seemed as if the direction-maidens were announcing the extraordinary festival of the maiden. 330. The lotus-faced one, the lord of the human-Vidyadharas, shone brightly, as if Lakshmi, with her victorious face-lotus, had taken refuge in him. 331. The earth-going and celestial kings, whose hope-water had dried up, and whose lotus-faces and lotus-eyes had lost their luster, were like dry lakes, filled with sorrow. 332. The lord of the excellent lineage, whose joy was increasing due to the fulfillment of his desired fruit, entered his excellent city, leading forward the worshipful Jayakumar, who was unshakable, like a Kalpa-tree with a Kalpa-creeper, and who was endowed with a daughter. 333. Since this Jayakumar, who was destined to obtain fortune and good fortune, was the first in the honorable ceremony of the Swayamvara, surrounded by the beautiful women who were the radiance of the lotus-faces of the earth-going and celestial kings, and since the garland, with its unfaded qualities, came to his refuge and behaved like a garland of Kalpa-trees, therefore his very pure fame spread throughout the entire world until the end of the Kalpa. 334. He, whose brilliant radiance caused the lotuses to bloom, whose rise had rejected the influence of others (enemies or stars, etc.), and who was victorious over the sun and moon, was indeed the embodiment of the unfathomable brilliance of his brothers and subjects, like a cluster of moonflowers. 335.
