राजा राजप्रभो लक्ष्मीवती देवी प्रियानुजः । श्रेयान् ज्यायान् जयः पुत्रस्तद्राज्यं पूज्यते न कः ॥ ८२॥ स पुत्रविटपाटोप: सोमकल्पाअघिपश्चिरम् । भोग्यः सम्भृतपुण्यानां स्वस्य चाभूत्तदद्भुतम् ॥८३॥ श्रयान्यदा जगत्कामभोगबन्धून् विधुप्रभः । श्रनित्याशुचिदुःखान्यान्मत्वा याथात्म्यवीक्षणः ॥८४॥ विरज्य राज्य संयोज्य 'धुर्ये शौर्योजिते जय । 'अजयदार्यवीर्यादिप्राज्यराज्यसमुत्सुकः " ॥८५॥ श्रभ्येत्य त्रुषभाभ्याशं दीक्षित्या मोक्षमन्त्रभूत् । श्रेयसा" सह नार्पत्यम्" अनुजेन यथा पुरा ॥ ८६ ॥ पितुः पदमधिष्ठाय १३ जयोऽतापि " महीं महान् । महतोऽनुभवन् भोगान् संविभज्यानुजैः समम् ॥८७॥ एकदाऽयं विहारार्थं बायोद्यानमुपागतः । तत्रासीनं समालोक्य शीलगुप्तं महामुनिम् ॥८॥ त्रिःपरीत्य नमस्कृत्य तुत्वा भक्तिभरान्वितः । श्रुत्वा धर्मं तमापृच्छ्रय प्रीत्या प्रत्यविशत् पुरीम् ॥८६॥ तस्मिन् वने वसन्नागमिथुनं सह भूभुजा । श्रुत्वा धर्मं सुधां मत्वा पपौ प्रीत्या दयारसम् ॥६०॥ कदाचित् प्रावृडारम्भ प्रचण्ड शनिताडितः । मृत्वाऽसौ शान्तिमादाय नागो नागाऽमरोऽभवत् ॥११॥
प्रकार अपने तेजको बढ़ानेवाले, अतिशय सुन्दर और विशेष कलाओंको धारण करनेवाले उन पन्द्रह पुत्रोंसे राजाधिराज सोमप्रभ सुशोभित हो रहे थे ||८१|| जिस राज्यका राजा सोमप्रभ था, लक्ष्मीमती रानी थी, प्रिय छोटा भाई श्रेयांस था और बड़ा राजपुत्र जयकुमार था भला वह राज्य किसके द्वारा पूज्य नहीं होता ? ॥ ८२ ॥ | जिसपर पुत्ररूपी शाखाओंका विस्तार है ऐसा वह राजा सोमप्रभरूपी कल्पवृक्ष, पुण्य संचय करनेवाले अन्य पुरुषोंको तथा स्वयं अपने आपको भोग्य था यह आश्चर्यकी बात है । भावार्थ- पुत्रों द्वारा वह स्वयं सुखी था तथा अन्य सब लोग भी उनसे सुख पाये थे ॥ ८३ ॥
अथानन्तर किसी समय, पदार्थों के यथार्थ स्वरूपको जाननेवाले राजा सोमप्रभ संसार, शरीर, भोग और भाइयोंको क्रमशः अनित्य, अपवित्र, दुःखस्वरूप और अपने से भिन्न मानकर विरक्त हुए तथा कभी नष्ट न होनेवाले अनन्त वीर्य आदि गुणोंसे श्रेष्ठ मोक्षरूपी राज्यके पाने उत्सुक हो, शूरवीर तथा धुरंधर जयकुमारको राज्य सौंपकर भगवान् वृषभदेव के समीप गये और वहाँ अपने छोटे भाई श्रेयांसके साथ दीक्षा लेकर मोक्षसुखका अनुभव करने लगे । जिस प्रकार वे पहिले यहाँ अपने छोटे भाई के साथ राज्यसुखका उपभोग करते थे उसी प्रकार मोक्ष में भी अपने छोटे भाई के साथ वहाँका सुख उपभोग करने लगे । भावार्थ- दोनों भाई मोक्षको प्राप्त हुए ||८४-८६ ।। इधर श्रेष्ठ जयकुमार पिताके पदपर आसीन होकर पृथिवी का पालन करने लगा । और अपने बड़े भारी भोगोपभोगोंको बाँटकर छोटे भाइयोंके साथ साथ उनका अनुभव करने लगा ||८७|| एक दिन वह जयकुमार क्रीड़ा करनेके लिये नगर के बाहर किसी उद्यानमें गया उसने वहाँ विराजमान शीलगुप्त नामके महामुनिके दर्शन कर उनकी तीन प्रदक्षिणाएं दीं, बड़ी भारी भक्तिके साथ साथ नमस्कार किया, स्तुति की, प्रीतिपूर्वक धर्म सुना और फिर उनसे आज्ञा लेकर नगरको वापिस लौटा ॥८८-८९ ।। उसी वनमें साँपों का एक जोड़ा रहता था उसने भी राजाके साथ साथ धर्म श्रवणकर उसे अमृत मान बड़े प्रेमसे दयारूपी रसका पान किया था ॥ ९० ॥ किसी समय वर्षाऋतुके प्रारम्भमें प्रचण्ड वज्रके पड़ने से उस जोड़े का वह सर्प शान्तिधारण कर मरा जिससे नागकुमार जातिका देव हुआ

King Soma Prabha, Lakshmiwati Devi, his beloved younger brother, Shreyans, and his elder son, Jay, were all revered. Who would not revere such a kingdom? || 82 ||
That king, Soma Prabha, was like a Kalpavriksha, with branches of sons, and he was enjoyable for those who had accumulated merit, as well as for himself. This was truly amazing. || 83 ||
Later, King Soma Prabha, seeing the true nature of things, renounced the world, the body, pleasures, and his brothers, considering them impermanent, impure, sorrowful, and different from himself. He was eager to attain the eternal kingdom of liberation, which is superior due to its infinite power and other qualities. He entrusted the kingdom to the valiant and wise Jay, and went to the presence of Lord Rishabhadeva, where he took initiation with his younger brother, Shreyans, and began to experience the bliss of liberation. Just as they had enjoyed the pleasures of the kingdom with their younger brother before, so too did they enjoy the pleasures of liberation with him. || 84-86 ||
Meanwhile, the noble Jay, assuming his father's position, ruled the earth. He enjoyed his vast wealth and pleasures, sharing them equally with his younger brothers. || 87 ||
One day, Jay went to a garden outside the city for recreation. There, he saw the great sage, Shilagupta, and circumambulated him three times. He bowed down with great devotion, praised him, listened to his teachings with joy, and then returned to the city after taking his leave. || 88-89 ||
In that same forest, there lived a pair of snakes. They also heard the teachings of the king, considered them nectar, and drank the sweet juice of compassion with great love. || 90 ||
Once, at the beginning of the rainy season, a powerful thunderbolt struck the pair of snakes, and the male snake died peacefully, becoming a Naga Kumar, a celestial being.
