Mahapuraanam
Especially, its creation is dependent on the field and time. Their proper conduct is to engage in righteous livelihood for the benefit of the people. ||12|| That righteousness is the non-transgression of Dharma, earning wealth, protecting it, increasing it, and distributing it to deserving recipients. ||13|| This fourfold conduct is the livelihood that has been declared by the virtuous. Following Jain Dharma is considered the supreme righteousness in the world. ||14|| Born from the divine form, the Jina, they produce Tirthankaras. The Ratna Tray is their origin, and kings are born from that origin. ||15|| Therefore, great kings, considered the best in the world, are born from them. They are established in the path of Dharma themselves and establish others in it as well. ||16|| Therefore, with all their efforts, they should protect their lineage. How should they protect it? This is explained further. ||17|| Being born in great lineages, Kshatriyas are themselves established in greatness. Therefore, they should not accept the Sheshaaksha, etc., of others who follow different religions. ||18|| There is a fault in accepting their Sheshaaksha, etc., which is the loss of their own greatness. There are many obstacles in this, therefore, it should be avoided. ||19|| By bowing down to others, their greatness is lost. Therefore, by accepting their Sheshaaksha, etc., they may become inferior. ||20|| A hostile heretic may place poisonous flowers on the head of a king. If this happens, the king will be destroyed. ||21|| If someone places flowers for enchantment on his head, then he will act like a fool and become subject to others. ||22|| Therefore, kings should avoid the Sheshaaksha, blessings, and peace chants of others who follow different religions. Otherwise, they will become low-born. ||23||
