अष्टत्रिंशत्तमं पर्व
जयन्त्यखिल वाङमार्गगामिन्यः सूक्तयोऽर्हताम् । धूतान्धतमसा दीप्रा यास्त्विषोंऽशुमतामिव ॥१॥ स जीयात् वृषभो मोहविषसुप्तमिदं जवात् । पटविद्येव यद्विद्या सद्यः समदतिष्ठपत् ॥२॥ तं नत्वा परमं ज्योतिः वृषभं वीरमन्वतः। द्विजन्मनामयोत्पत्ति वक्ष्य श्रेणिक भोः शृणु ॥३॥ भरतो भारतं वर्ष निजित्य सह पार्थिवैः । षष्टया वर्षसहस्रेस्तु दिशां निववृते जयात् ॥४॥ कृतकृत्यस्य तस्यान्तश्चिन्तेयमुदपद्यत । परार्थे सम्पदास्माकी सोपयोगा कथं भवेत् ॥५॥ महामहमहं कृत्वा जिनेन्द्रस्य महोदयम् । प्रोणयामि जगद्विश्वं विष्वक् "विश्राणयन् धनम् ॥६॥ नानगारा वसून्यस्मत् प्रतिगृलन्ति निःस्पृहाः । सागारः कतमः पूज्यो धनधान्यसमृद्धिभिः ॥७॥ 'येऽणुवतधरा धीरा धौरेया गृहमेधिनाम् । तर्पणीया हि तेऽस्माभिः ईप्सितर्वसुवाहनः ॥८॥ इति निश्चित्य राजेन्द्रः सत्कर्तुमचितानिमान् । 'परीचिक्षिषुराह्वास्त तदा सर्वान् महीभुजः ॥६॥ सदाचारनिरिष्टः अनुजीविभि रन्विताः। अद्यास्मदुत्सवे यूयम् पायातेति पृथक् पृथक् ॥१०॥ हरितैरङकुरैः पुष्पैः फलैश्चाकीर्णमङगणम् । सम्माडचीकरतेषां परीक्षायै स्ववेश्मनि ॥११॥ तेष्वव्रता विना सङगात् प्राविक्षन् नृपमन्दिरम् । तानेकतः समुत्सार्य शेषानाह्वययत् प्रभुः॥१२॥
जो समस्त' भाषाओंमें परिणत होनेवाली है, जिसने अज्ञानरूपी गाढ अन्धकारको नष्ट कर दिया है और जो सूर्यको किरणोंके समान देदीप्यमान है वह अरहन्त भगवान्की सुन्दर वाणी सदा जयवन्त हो ।।१।। गारुड़ी विद्याके समान जिनकी विद्याने मोहरूपी विषसे सोये हुए इस समस्त संसारको बहुत शीघू जगा दिया वे भगवान् वृषभदेव सदा जयवन्त रहें ।।२।। गौतमस्वामी राजा श्रेणिकसे कहते हैं कि हे श्रेणिक, मैं उन परमज्योति-स्वरूप भगवान् वृषभदेव तथा भगवान् महावीर स्वामीको नमस्कारकर अब यहांसे द्विजोंकी उत्पत्ति कहता हूं सो सुनो॥३॥ भरत चक्रवर्ती अनेक राजाओंके साथ भारतवर्षको जीतकर साठ हजार वर्ष में दिग्विजयसे वापिस लौटे ॥४॥ जब वे सब कार्य कर चुके तब उनके चित्तमें यह चिन्ता उत्पन्न हुई कि दूसरेके उपकारमें मेरी इस संपदाका उपयोग किस प्रकार हो सकता है ? ॥५॥ मैं श्री जिनेन्द्रदेवका बड़े ऐश्वर्यके साथ महामह नामका यज्ञ कर धन वितरण करता हुआ समस्त संसारको संतुष्ट करूं ? ॥६॥ सदा निःस्पृह रहनेवाले मुनि तो हम लोगोंसे धन लेते नहीं हैं परन्तु ऐसा गृहस्थ भी कौन है जो धन-धान्य आदि सम्पत्तिके द्वारा पूजा करनेके योग्य है ॥७॥ जो अण व्रतको धारण करनेवाले हैं, धीर वीर हैं और गृहस्थोंमें मुख्य हैं ऐसे पुरुष ही हम लोगोंके द्वारा इच्छित धन तथा सवारी आदिक वाहनोंके द्वारा तर्पण करने के योग्य हैं ।।८।। इस प्रकार निश्चय कर सत्कार करने के योग्य व्यक्तियोंकी परीक्षा करनेकी इच्छासे राजराजेश्वर भरतने उस समय समस्त राजाओंको बुलाया ॥९॥ और सबके पास खबर भेज दी कि आप लोग अपने अपने सदाचारी इष्ट मित्र तथा नौकर चाकर आदिके साथ आज हमारे उत्सवमें अलग अलग आवें ॥१०॥ इधर चक्रवर्तीने उन सबकी परीक्षा करने के लिये अपने घरके आंगनमें हरे हरे अंकुर, पुष्प और फल खूब भरवा दिये ।।११।। उन लोगोंमें जो अव्रती थे वे
१ सर्वभावात्मिका इत्यर्थः । २ गारुडविद्या। ३ क्षेत्रम् । ४ वितरन् । ५ कश्चन । ६ अरगवता- ल० । ७ धुरीणाः । ८ परीक्षितुमिच्छः । ६ भृत्यैः । १० आगच्छत । ११ विचारात् प्रतिबन्धाद् वा।

Victorious are the verses that praise the Arhats, who are the guides of all paths of speech, who have dispelled the darkness of ignorance and shine like the rays of the sun. ||1|| May the Lord Vrishabha, whose knowledge is like the Garuda Vidya, awaken this world, which is asleep in the poison of delusion, be victorious. ||2|| Bowing down to the supreme light, Lord Vrishabha, and following the valiant, O King Shrenika, listen to the origin of the twice-born. ||3|| Bharat, the Chakravarti, conquered the land of Bharat along with many kings and returned after sixty thousand years of conquest. ||4|| When he had accomplished all his tasks, a thought arose in his mind: "How can this wealth of mine be used for the benefit of others?" ||5|| Should I perform a great sacrifice called "Mahamaha" in honor of the Jina, and distribute wealth, thus satisfying the whole world? ||6|| The monks, who are always free from desire, do not accept wealth from us. But which householder is worthy of being worshipped with wealth, grain, and other riches? ||7|| Those who are steadfast in the Anu Vrata, who are courageous and valiant, and who are the leaders among householders, are worthy of being honored by us with wealth, vehicles, and other desired things. ||8|| Having decided thus, the King of Kings, Bharat, summoned all the kings at that time, desiring to test them. ||9|| He sent word to all, saying: "Come to our festival today, each with your own virtuous friends, relatives, and servants." ||10|| Meanwhile, the Chakravarti had filled the courtyard of his house with green sprouts, flowers, and fruits, to test them. ||11|| Among them, those who were not observing any vows, entered the king's palace without any restraint. The Lord, having expelled them all, called the remaining ones. ||12||
