Vasudevahimdi : Majjhima-kharnda
of the late Mss. If thus the Māhāraştri elemeuts in the language of Vhm (and Vh.) are later imported features, the designation 'Archaic Jain Māhāraştri' will be inappropriate. On the otherhand, here we have in Vhm. a Svetāmbara work whose Prakrit has Sauraseni phonological elements comparable to what we find in the Prakrit of Digambara works. But there is one significant difference : We find also many forms which do not voice the unvoiced intervocalic stop. It seems that we may have to think of 'Archaic Jain Prakrit' or 'Early Jain Prakrit' as a better designation for the language of the works like Vh. and Vhm.
