३. स्वप्न : एक विचित्र पंख वाला पक्षी निकट सामने आया है।
फल : विविध रहस्यों वाले द्वादशांग रूप ज्ञान की प्ररूपणा करेंगे। ४. स्वप्न : दो रत्न-मालाएँ सामने रखी हैं। फल : उत्पल चौथे स्वप्न का अर्थ नहीं समझ पाया। उसके पूछने पर श्रमण महावीर ने ही स्पष्ट
किया-“मैं साधु धर्म एवं श्रावक धर्म रूप दो प्रकार के धर्म का उपदेश करूँगा।" ५. स्वप्न : सफेद गायों का समूह सामने स्थित है।
फल : श्रमण-श्रमणी, श्रावक-श्राविका रूप चतुर्विध संघ प्रभु की सेवा में रहेगा। ६. स्वप्न : खिले हुए कमलों वाला पद्मसरोवर। ___फल : चारों निकाय के देवता प्रभु की सेवा करते रहेंगे।
७. स्वप्न : तरंगाकुल महासमुद्र को अपनी भुजाओं से तैरकर पार कर दिया। ___फल : संसार-समुद्र को पार करेंगे। ८. स्वप्न : सूर्य अपना प्रचण्ड आलोक चारों ओर बिखेर रहा है।
फल : केवलज्ञान का निर्मल आलोक शीघ्र ही जगमगायेगा। ९. स्वप्न : अपनी नील वैडूर्यवर्णी आँतों से मानुषोत्तर पर्वत को चारों ओर से आवेष्टित कर रहा हूँ।
फल : समस्त को प्रभु अपने निर्मल यश से आपूरित कर देंगे। १०. स्वप्न : मेरु पर्वत की चूला पर सिंहासन के ऊपर बैठा हूँ।
फल : प्रभु उच्च सिंहासन पर विराजमान होकर धर्म देशना देंगे। (चित्र M-26)

THE LIFE AS AN ASCETIC The Great Renunciation
It was the tenth day of the dark fortnight of the month of Margshirsh. Prince Vardhaman had observed a ritual fast of two days. A palanquin named Chandi aprabh was prepared for his great renunciation. Around afternoon Vardhaman came out of the palace and climbed into the palanquin. The procession with the palanquin proceeded to Jnatkhand garden in the north-east of Kshatriyakund. The palanquin was placed near an Ashok tree. Vardhaman got down from the palanquin. Thousands of eyes were staring at the prince. His golden body was adorned with a beautiful dress and scintillating ornaments. The next moment he had removed all the ornaments and his dress. The only cover on his body was a piece of cloth resting on his shoulders and provided by Indra. Vardhaman pulled out his hair in five fistfuls. Indra collected his dress, ornaments and hair in a golden vessel. (M-13/1) Illustrated Tirthankar Charitra
