Find of another Tippaña on the PC. The materials used to constitute the text of the Yuddha and Uttara Kāņda of Svayambhū’s Paumacariu are the same as used for the earlier Kåņdas—with only one exception. For the portion from Sandhi 67 to the end, a manuscript of the PaumacariyaPippana has been used. When I learnt about the existence of that manuscript, the text of Sandhis 37 to 66 was already printed. So the manuscript could be utilized only for the rest of the text. The description of the Ms. is as under:
Paumacariya Tippana: No. 1399 (p. 249) in the Rājasthānke Jaina Sāstra Bhaņdārõ-ki Granth Sūcī, Part II, prepared by Kasturchand Kaslival (Jaipur). Wrapper No. 942. Belonging to the Mss. Collection of the Terahpantha Digambar Jain Badā Mandir of Jaipur. No. of folios-56, of which folios No. 5, 7, 17, 20, 21, 26, 28, 39, 42, 53 are missing, while only the first half of folios No. 10 and 13 is preserved. Size-11x 4 inches ; 9 to 11 lines per side ; 36 to 40 letters per line. Bold and neat hendwriting. Some of the letters of the colophon are illegible because of the superimposed impression of the writing from some other Ms. folio transferred through contact. The Ms, does not give any date of composition or copying. Nor is mentioned the name of the ay chor. The major portion of the glosses is common between the Tippaņa in the manuscript P (called here PT.) and the present Tippaņa (called here JT.). But there are numerous omissions and extra glosses in JT. I have formed an impression that JT. is based on PT., but at present I am not in a position to point out ang definite evidence in support of this guess.
The additional glosses of JT. are all noted down for Şandhis 67.6 to 90. The same for the earlier portion of the Paumacariu, viz., Sandhis 1 to 67.5 have been given at the end of the text in the form of an appendix (Appendix IV, p. 293-305).
