PREFACE
all students of India's past. I cannot feel grateful for the inclusion of this, Third Part also in the Series for publication.
To the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan I owe so much that it would be futile to put it here in words. I have received unhampered research and other facilities throughout my association with it. But when we think of the inestimable and multiform contributions made and still being made by Dr. K. M. Munshi, the illustrious President of the Bhavan, through his vast number of creative, scholarly and critical-reflective writings, and through institutional activities, towards the cause of resuscitating and radiating the basic values of India's culture, Bhavan's encouragement to and manifold interest in the scholarly research is nothing to be wondered at. In giving voice here, however, to my sense of gratitude to the Bhavan, I feel the satisfaction of discharging a genuine.duty.
