(Rudradeva-) Is there any Kshatriya (of martial race), cook, teacher or student present here who can drive this ascetic (nirgranth) off by beating with stick or wooden plank and holding from the neck ? (18)
अज्झावयाणं वयणं सुणेत्ता, उद्धाइया तत्थ बहू कुमारा।
दण्डेहि वित्तेहि कसेहि चेव, समागया तं इसि तालयन्ति ॥१९॥ अध्यापकों के ऐसे वचन सुनकर वहाँ बहुत-से कुमार दौड़ते हुये आए और ऋषि (हरिकेशबल) को डंडों से, बेंतों से, चाबुकों से पीटने लगे॥ १९॥
Hearing these words from teachers, many youngsters rushed forward and started beating ascetic Harikesh-bala with canes, sticks and whips. (19)
रन्नो तहिं कोसलियस्स धूया, भद्द त्ति नामेण अणिन्दियंगी।
तं पासिया संजय हम्ममाणं, कुद्धे कुमारे परिनिव्ववेइ॥२०॥ कौशलिक राजा की अनिन्द्य सुन्दरी भद्रा नामक पुत्री ने ऋषि को इस प्रकार पिटते देखा तो क्रुद्ध कुमारों को शान्त करने का प्रयास करने लगी॥ २०॥
When Bhadraa, the spotlessly beautiful daughter of king Kaushalika, saw the ascetic being beaten thus, she tried to appease the angry youngsters. (20)
देवाभिओगेण निओइएणं, दिन्ना मु रन्ना मणसा न झाया।
नरिन्द-देविन्दऽभिवन्दिएणं, जेणऽम्हि वन्ता इसिणा स एसो॥२१॥ (भद्रा)-यक्ष देवता की बलवती प्रेरणा से प्रेरित होकर मेरे पिता राजा कौशलिक ने मुझे इनको प्रदान किया था; किन्तु इन मुनि ने मुझे मन से भी नहीं चाहा। मेरा परित्याग करने वाले ये ऋषि नरेन्द्रों और देवेन्द्रों द्वारा भी पूजित हैं॥ २१॥
(Bhadraa-) On insistence of a yaksha my father gave me to this revered ascetic; but this ascetic had no desire for me. This great ascetic, who abandoned me, is worshipped by kings of men and gods. (21)
एसो हु सो उग्गतवो महप्पा, जिइन्दिओ संजओ बम्भयारी।
जो मे तया नेच्छइ दिज्जमाणिं, पिउणा सयं कोसलिएण रन्ना॥२२॥ ये वही उग्र तपस्वी, महात्मा, इन्द्रियविजेता, संयत और ब्रह्मचारी हैं; जिन्होंने उस समय मेरे पिता राजा कौशलिक द्वारा मुझे इनको दिये जाने पर भी इन्होंने मेरी तनिक भी इच्छा नहीं की॥ २२ ॥
This is the same rigorous hermit, great soul, conqueror of senses, restrained and celibate ascetic, who did not have even slightest desire for me even when my father, king Kaushalik gave me to him. (22)
महाजसो एस महाणुभागो, घोरव्वओ घोरपरक्कमो य।
मा एयं हीलह अहीलणिज्जं, मा सव्वे तेएण भे निदहेज्जा॥२३॥ ___ ये मुनि महायशस्वी, महानुभाव, घोर व्रती और घोर पराक्रमी हैं। ये अवहेलना योग्य नहीं हैं। इनकी अवहेलना मत करो। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि अपने तप-तेज से ये तुम सब को भस्म कर दें॥ २३ ॥
