[59] षष्टम अध्ययन
सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्री
गवासं मणिकुंडलं, पसवो दासपोरुसं।
सव्वमेयं चइत्ताणं, कामरूवी भविस्ससि ॥५॥ गाय-बैल-अश्व आदि पशु, मणि कुण्डल, दास तथा अन्य पुरुष-सेवक-इन सभी को अपनी इच्छा से छोड़ देने वाला व्यक्ति (परलोक में) कामरूपी-इच्छानुसार रूप बनाने वाला देव होगा ॥ ५ ॥
Cattle including cows, oxen, horses; ornaments like beads and ear-rings; slaves and servants; one who gives up all these possessions of his own volition is reborn as a god having power of transmutation or acquiring any desired form. (5)
थावरं जंगमं चेव. धणं धण्ण उवक्खरं।
पच्चमाणस्स कम्मेहिं, नालं दुक्खाउ मोयणे॥६॥ स्थावर-जंगम-चल-अचल संपत्ति, धन-धान्य, उपस्कर (घर का सामान-ग्रहोपकरण) भी कर्मों से दुःख पाते हुये प्राणी को दु:ख से मुक्त कराने में समर्थ नहीं हैं॥ ६॥
Possessions including immovable and moveable property, wealth and granary, household equipment and furniture, are not capable of relieving from miseries caused by karmas. (6)
अज्झत्थं सव्वओ सव्वं, दिस्स पाणे पियायए।
न हणे पाणिणो पाणे, भयवेराओ उवरए॥७॥ सभी प्राणियों को, सभी ओर से प्राप्त होने वाला, सभी प्रकार से अपनी आत्मा का सुख प्रिय है तथा उन्हें अपना आयुष्य प्रिय है। यह देख-सोचकर भय और वैर से विरत साधक किसी के भी प्राणों का हनन न करे॥७॥
All living beings love happiness coming from any and all directions; they also love a long life-span. Knowing and comprehending this, an aspirant free of fear and animosity should not deprive any living being of its life. (7)
आयाणं नरयं दिस्स, नायएज्ज तणामवि।
दोगुंछी अप्पणो पाए, दिन्नं भुजेज्ज भोयणं॥८॥ बिना दी हुई वस्तु लेना नरक-गमन का कारण है, यह जानकर साधक बिना दिया हुआ एक तिनका भी न ले। असंयम (या पाप) के प्रति अरुचि रखने वाला भिक्षु अपने पात्र में ही गृहस्थ द्वारा दिये गये आहार का भोजन करे ॥ ८॥
To take anything without being given is the sure way to hell; knowing this an aspirant should not take even a blade of grass without being given. An ascetic averse to indiscipline (sin) should eat the food given by a householder only in his own alms-bowl. (8)
इहमेगे उ मन्नन्ति, अप्पच्चक्खाय पावगं।
आयरियं विदित्ताणं, सव्वदुक्खा विमुच्चई॥९॥ कुछ लोग ऐसा भी मानते हैं कि पापों का त्याग किये बिना ही केवल आर्य तत्त्वों के जान लेने मात्र से सभी दु:खों से विमुक्त हुआ जा सकता है॥ ९॥
Some people believe this too that salvation from all miseries is possible even without abstaining from sinful deeds simply by gaining knowledge of noble precepts and doctrines. (9)
