9. [1] An ascetic having indulged in some forbidden activity (sin), if gets to think that during the last moments of his life he will perform the formal censure (aalochana)... and so on up to... accept atonement in the form of austerities, but he dies without performing the formal censure (aalochana) and critical review (pratikraman) for the same, he fails to accomplish his spiritual endeavour (aaradhana).
[2] However, if he dies after performing the formal censure (aalochana) and critical review (pratikraman) for the same, he + accomplishes his spiritual endeavour (aaradhana).
१०. [१] भिक्खू य अन्नयरं अकिच्चठाणं पडिसेवित्ता, तस्सं णं एवं भवइ-'जइ ताव समणोवासगा वि कालमासे कालं किच्चा अन्नयरेसु देवलोएसु देवत्ताए उववत्तारो भवंति किमंग पुण अहं अणपन्नियदेवत्तणं पि नो लभिस्सामि?' त्ति कटु से णं तस्स ठाणस्स अणालोइय अपडिक्कते कालं करेइ नत्थि तस्स आराहणा।
[२] से णं तस्स ठाणस्स आलोइयपडिक्कते कालं करेइ नत्थि तस्स आराहणा। सेवं भंते ! सेवं भंते ! त्ति०।
॥दसमे सए बीओ उद्देसओ समत्तो॥१०-२॥ . १०. [१] कदाचित् किसी भिक्षु ने किसी अकृत्य-स्थान का सेवन कर लिया हो और के उसके बाद उसके मन में यह विचार उत्पन्न हो कि श्रमणोपासक भी काल के अवसर पर का ॐ काल करके किन्हीं देवलोकों में देव रूप में उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं, तो क्या मैं अणपन्निक देवत्व ॥
भी प्राप्त नहीं कर सकूँगा? यह सोचकर यदि वह उस अकृत्य-स्थान की आलोचना और की 5 प्रतिक्रमण किये बिना ही काल कर जाता है, तो उसके आराधना नहीं होती।
[२] यदि वह उस अकृत्य-स्थान की आलोचना और प्रतिक्रमण करके काल करता है, तो उसके आराधना होती है।
हे भगवन्! यह इसी प्रकार है! हे भगवन् ! यह इसी प्रकार है। ऐसा कहकर गौतम ॐ स्वामी यावत् विचरते हैं।
