नरक एवं नारकी

विस्तार की दृष्टि से नरकावास दो प्रकार के होते हैं - असंख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले और संख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले । असंख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले नरकावासों में असंख्यात नारकी होते हैं
और संख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले नरकावासों में संख्यात नारकी होते हैं। विशेष यह है कि सातों नरक में असंख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले और संख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले नरकावास होते हैं लेकिन इनकी संख्या निश्चित होती है।

भवनवासी देवों के आवास
रत्नप्रभा नामक प्रथम नरक का पृथ्वी पिंड 1,80,000 हजार योजन मोटा है। इसमें 13 प्रतर और 12 आंतरे हैं। ऊपर के दो आंतरे खाली हैं उसके बाद भवनपति देवों के भवन हैं। आगे क्रमश: 12वें आंतरे तक 10 भवनपति देवों के भवन हैं। चित्र में प्रत्येक आंतरे में जो भवनपति देव रहते हैं, उनके नाम व आवासों की संख्या दी गई है। प्रत्येक आंतरा 11583.83 योजन ऊँचाई वाला है। प्रथम नरक का प्रत्येक प्रतर 3000 योजन मोटाई वाला है।

HELLS AND INFERNAL BEINGS
In terms of expanse infernal abodes are of two kinds-with innumerable Yojans area and countable Yojans area. In abodes with innumerable Yojans area there are innumerable infernal beings and in those with countable Yojans area there are countable infernal beings. In all the seven hells there are infernal abodes with innumerable Yojans area and countable Yojans area but their numbers are fixed for each.
ABODES OF BHAVAN-VAASI GODS
The land block of the first hell, Ratnaprabha Prithvi, is 1, 80,000 Yojans thick. It has 13 levels and 12 gaps. The top two gaps are empty after which there are abodes of ten classes of Bhavan-vaasi gods. The illustration shows the names of the particular class of Bhavan-vaasi gods living in a specific gap and the number of abodes. Each gap has a height of 11583.83 Yojans. Each level of the first hell is 3000 Yojans thick.
