का 'आकाश खण्ड' है वह सातवाँ अवकाशान्तर कहलाता है। उसके ऊपर सातवाँ तनुवात है, उसके ऊपर सातवाँ घनवात है । घनवात के ऊपर सातवाँ घनोदधि है और सातवें घनोदधि से ऊपर सातवीं नरकपृथ्वी है। इसी क्रम से पहली नरकपृथ्वी तक जानना चाहिए ।
अवकाशान्तर जितने भी हैं, वे सभी आकाश रूप हैं और आकाश अमूर्त्त होने से वर्ण, गन्ध, रस और स्पर्श से सर्वथा रहित है। तनुवात, घनवात, घनोदधि और नरक पृथ्वी आदि पौद्गलिक होने से मूर्त्त हैं। इसलिए वे वर्ण, गन्ध, रस और स्पर्श वाले हैं और बादर परिणाम वाले होने से इनमें शीत - उष्ण, स्निग्ध- रूक्ष, मृदु-कठिन, हल्का - भारी, ये आठों ही स्पर्श पाये जाते हैं।
Elaboration-Cosmic structure-The layer of intervening space between the first and second hell (prithvi) is called 'first thus the intervening space beyond the seventh hell is seventh avakaashaantar. Considering that to be the lowest in the conceived the layer of rarified air above that is seventh tanuvaat, above that is seventh ghanavaat, above that is seventh ghanodadhi (ghanod) and above that is seventh prithvi. Like this the pattern follows up to the first prithvi.

All avakaashaantars being space are completely devoid of attributes of colour, smell, taste and touch. Tanuvaat, ghanavaat, ghanodadhi and prithvi are material things and thus with form. That is why they all have these attributes of colour, smell, taste and touch; and being gross they have attributes of all eight touches - sheet (cold) - ushna ( hot), snigdha (smooth)ruksha (coarse), karkash (hard touch) - mridu (soft) and guru (heavy ) - laghu (light).

१९. [ प्र. ] नेरइया णं भंते! कइवण्णा जाव कइफासा पन्नत्ता ?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! वेउव्विय-तेयाइं पडुच्च पंचवण्णा पंचरसा दुगंधा अट्ठफासा पन्नत्ता । कम्मगं पडुच्च पंचवण्णा पंचरसा दुगंधा चउफासा पन्नत्ता । जीवं पडुच्च अवा
अफासा पन्नत्ता ।
१९. [प्र.] भगवन्! नैरयिकों में कितने वर्ण, गन्ध, रस और स्पर्श हैं ?
[उ.] गौतम! वैक्रिय और तैजस पुद्गलों की अपेक्षा से उनमें पाँच वर्ण, पाँच रस, दो गन्ध और आठ स्पर्श हैं। कार्मण पुद्गलों की अपेक्षा से उनमें पाँच वर्ण, पाँच रस, दो गन्ध और चार स्पर्श हैं और जीव की अपेक्षा से वे वर्णरहित यावत् स्पर्शरहित हैं।
