Illustration No. 7 महाबल कुमार सुदर्शन श्रमणोपासक द्वारा काल विषयक प्रश्न पूछे जाने पर भगवान महावीर स्वामी ने उसका समाधान देते हुए सुदर्शन को उसके पूर्व भव बताये।
सुदर्शन के पूर्व भव । एक रात्रि महाबल कुमार का जीव स्वर्ग से च्यवन करके हस्तिनापुर नगर के राजा बल की रानी प्रभावती के गर्भ में आया। उसी रात्रि को रानी ने एक दहाड़ते हुए सिंह का स्वप्न देखा।
रानी ने नौ माह, साढ़े सात दिन बीतने पर एक अत्यन्त सुन्दर पुत्र को जन्म दिया। पाँच धायों की देख-रेख में बालक सुखपूर्वक बड़ा होने लगा। युवा होने पर राजा बल ने उसके लिये
अत्यन्त सुन्दर खम्बों से युक्त आठ राजमहलों का निर्माण करवाया और अत्यन्त रूपवती आठ म राजकन्याओं के साथ उसका विवाह करा दिया। महाबल कुमार उन भव्य प्रासादों में अपनी ॐ आठ रानियों के साथ स्वर्गिक सुख भोगने लगा।

SUDARSHAN'S PAST BIRTH One night the soul of Prince Mahabal descended from heavens into the womb of queen Prabhavati, wife of king Bal of Hastinapur. The queen saw a roaring lion in her dream that night.
After nine months and seven and a half days the queen gave birth to a beautiful son. He grew happily under the care of five governesses. When he was young, king Bal got eight palaces with beautiful pillars constructed for him. He was also married to eight beautiful princesses. Now prince Mahabal spent his life enjoying divine pleasures with is wives in these grand palaces.
