to... the basket with the carrying pole, and came out of the hermitage. From there Saint-king Shiva, free of his pervert knowledge, passed thro-gh the center of Hastinapur city and came near Shraman Bhagavan Mahavir in the Sahasramravan garden. Reaching near Shraman 2
Bhagavan Mahavir he went around him clockwise thrice, greeted and 卐 paid homage. Thereafter he sat down, neither far nor near Bhagavan, and joining his palms commenced his worship.
३१. तए णं समणे भगवं महावीरे सिवस्स रायरिसिस्स तीसे य महतिमहालियाए जाव आणाए आराहए भवइ।
[३१] श्रमण भगवान महावीर ने शिवराजर्षि और उस महापरिषद् को धर्मोपदेश दिया यावत्-“इस प्रकार पालन करने से जीव आज्ञा के आराधक होते हैं।"
31. Shraman Bhagavan Mahavir gave his sermon to Saint-king Shiva and the large gathering... and so on up to... "Observing this conduct living beings become true spiritual aspirants (aaraadhak).
३२. तए णं से सिवे रायरिसी समणस्स भगवओ महावीरस्स अंतियं धम्म सोच्चाई म निसम्म जहा खंदओ जाव उत्तरपुरस्थिमं दिसीभागं अवक्कमइ, उ. अ. २ सुबहुं ॐ लोहीलोहकडाह जाव किढिणसंकाइयगं एगते एडेइ, ए. २ सयमेव पंचमुट्ठियं लोयं करेइ, # स. क. २ समणं भगवं महावीरं एवं जहेव उसभदत्ते तहेव पव्वइओ, तहेव एक्कारस अंगाई है। ॐ अहिज्जइ, तहेव सव्वं जाव सव्वदुक्खप्पहीणे।
[३२] उसके पश्चात् वे शिवराजर्षि श्रमण भगवान महावीर स्वामी से धर्मोपदेश सुनकर के और अवधारण कर; स्कन्दक की तरह (शतक २, उ. १) यावत् उत्तरपूर्व दिशा (ईशान कोण) , में गए और लोढ़ी, लोह-कड़ाह यावत् कावड़ आदि तापसोचित उपकरणों को एकान्त स्थान में 5 में डाल दिया। फिर स्वयमेव पंचमुष्टि लोच किया और श्रमण भगवान महावीर के पास ऋषभदत्त 卐 की तरह (श. ८, उ. ३३) प्रव्रज्या अंगीकार की; ग्यारह अंगशास्त्रों का अध्ययन किया और उसी प्रकार यावत् वे शिवराजर्षि समस्त दुःखों से मुक्त हुए।

lesson-33), got initiated by Shraman Bhagavan Mahavir, studied the
