Ans.] Gautam ! Their bodies may have five kinds of colours, two kinds of smells, five kinds of tastes and eight kinds of touches. The soul itself is devoid of any colour, smell, taste or touch.

[प्र.] ते णं भंते ! जीवा किं उस्सासगा, निस्सासगा, नोउस्सासनिस्सासगा? __ [उ.] गोयमा ! उस्सासए वा १, निस्सासए वा २, नोउस्सासनिस्सासए वा ३, उस्सासगा वा ४, निस्सासगा वा ५, नोउस्सासनिस्सासगा वा ६, अहवा उस्सासए य निस्सासए य ४ (७-१०), अहवा उस्सासए य नोउस्सासनिस्सासए य ४ (११-१४), अहवा निस्सासए य नोउस्सासनीस्सासए य ४ (१५-१८), अहवा उस्सासए य नीस्सासए य नोउस्सासनिस्सासए य-अट्ठ भंगा (१९-२६), एए छव्वीसं भंगा भवंति। [दारं १५]
२०. [प्र.] भगवन् ! वे उत्पल के जीव उच्छ्वासक हैं, निःश्वासक हैं, या अनुच्छ्वासकमें नि:श्वासक हैं?
[उ.] गौतम! (उनमें से) (१) एक जीव उच्छ्वासक है, (२) या एक जीव नि:श्वासक है, (३) या एक जीव अनुच्छ्वासक-नि:श्वासक है, (४) या अनेक जीव उच्छ्वासक हैं, (५) या 5 अनेक जीव नि:श्वासक हैं, (६) या अनेक जीव अनुच्छ्वासक-नि:श्वासक हैं (७-१०) अथवा ॐ एक उच्छ्वासक है और एक नि:श्वासक है; आदि। (११-१४) अथवा एक उच्छ्वासक और
एक अनुच्छ्वासक-नि:श्वासक है; आदि। (१५-१८) अथवा एक नि:श्वासक और एक अनुच्छ्वासक-निःश्वासक है, आदि। (१९-२८) अथवा एक उच्छ्वासक, एक नि:श्वासक और एक अनुच्छ्वासक-नि:श्वासक है आदि आठ भंग होते हैं। ये सम्पूर्ण मिलकर २६ भंग होते हैं।
