4. The ascetic who throws away the excreta and urine at the living root of a tree or
supports the ones who does so. 5. The ascetic who studies sitting at the living root of the tree or supports the ones
who does so. 6. The ascetic who aims to study at the living root of a tree or supports the ones who
does so. 7. The ascetic who does “Samudeshya" (revision) of study at the living root of a tree
or supports the ones who does so. The ascetic who allows someone to study at the living root of a tree or supports the
ones who does so. 9. The ascetic who delivers discourses of scriptures staying at the living roots of tree
or supports the ones who does so. 10. The ascetic who listens the discourses of the scriptures staying at the living root of
a tree or support the ones who does so. 28 11. The ascetic who revises the studied text staying at the living roots of a tree or
supports the ones who does so, a laghu-masik expiation comes to him.
विवेचन-चूर्णि में हाथी के पैर जितने मोटे वृक्ष स्कंध (तने) के चारों ओर एक हाथ प्रमाण की भूमि सचित्त बताई गई है। इससे कम या ज्यादा मोटाई वाले वृक्ष स्कंध की भूमि उसी अनुपात में सचित्त समझना चाहिए। यहाँ सचित्त वृक्ष-स्कंध के पास ठहरने के निषेध और प्रायश्चित्त के विधान से अन्य सभी कार्यों का निषेध और प्रायश्चित्त स्वतः सिद्ध हो जाता है। फिर भी ग्यारह सूत्रों द्वारा अनेक कार्यों का तथा स्वाध्यायादि करने का निषेध और प्रायश्चित्त विधान विस्तृत शैली की अपेक्षा से कहा गया है।

विवेचन-आवश्यकतानुसार लम्बा-चौड़ा कपड़ा न मिलने पर या 'अणलं, अथिरं अधारणीयं' होने के पूर्व किसी कारण से फट जाने पर सीना आवश्यक हो तो स्वयं सीवे या अन्य साधु से सिलावे और कोई भी साधु सीने वाला न हो तो साध्वी से सिला ले। ऐसा करने पर प्रायश्चित्त नहीं आता है, किन्तु गृहस्थ से सिलाने पर लघुमासिक प्रायश्चित्त आता है।
