________________ cciii The Third Yogasthāna (iii) vipaśyanā or a vision of kušala dharmas. The description of vipaśyanā comprises the discussion on the following topics : (a) the fourfold vipaśyanā, (b) the threefold vipaśyanā, and (c) the vipaśyanā depending on the following six factors, artha, vastu, lakṣaṇa, pakşa, kāla, and yukti. Elaboration of the various kinds of these factors has also been given of which (a) the ninefold 'prayogatā'the anurūpa, abhyasta, aviparita, aśithila, kāla, upalaksaņa, asantusta, avidhura and samyak-prayogatā, (b) the four yuktis of apeksā, kāryakārana, upapatti-sādhana and dharmatā, (c) the twofold vipaśyanānimiita-ālambana and nidāna, (d) vipaśyanākāla, (e) pragraha, (f) upekṣā, and (g) ekāgratā deserve mention. (iv) Avarunavisuddhi - purification of the obstructions of the samādhinimittas (or dharmas). This comprises discussions on the following topics(i) four causes of the purification of mind from the obstruction of samādhi nimittas : (a) knowledge of the nature of āvaraña (svabhāva parijñāni). (b) causes of obstruction (nidāna), (c) knowledge of the defects thereof (ādīnavapari jñāna) and (d) the contemplation of dharmas opposite to paritamanā (pratipakşabhāvanā). (ii) under (iv) (i), (a) four āvaraņas have been enumerated ;
