(atforfor f-2-84) It will at once be seen that this riddle requires, in one who attempts to solve it, a two-fold mental equipment: an adequate knowledge of wordly affairs and a familiarity with grammatical Sutras. The author thereof also must have both wordly wisdom and mastery over grammar, to a much greater degree than the reader.
When we bear in mind this need of two-fold accomplishment in the author of such riddles, we can well understand why there is a paucity of such endeavours.
· That paucity now becomes a thing of the past. Here is now before us this woface:, confronting us with a challenge to tackle over a hundred such Prahelikas. The moment you take up the gauntlet you find yourselves overwhelmed and deeply engrossed in a composite task, namely that of getting at the purport of the verse before you and also that of laying your finger on the right Sutra. Verse follows verse and drags you on and on until you have solved all the riddles, unless you are compelled by some other urgent matter to lay the self
