In the ŚBh. the Saptasūryopamal and Pratītyasamutpādādivibhanganirdeśasūtra? have been referred to and a passage from the former has been actually quoted, while many verses, longer passages and extracts have been quoted whose source is not traced3. This makes one think that the Sanskrit Tripițaka of the Mahāsāṁghikas, the Sarvāstivādins and the canons of other schools which are no more extant have been referred to.
Similarly, the original source of the verses occurring in the Paramārthagāthāvyavasthāna, the Śarīrārthagathagāthāvyavasthāna and the ābhiprāyiki-gāthāvyavasthāna of the Cintāmayībhūmi whose theme seems to have been taken from Theravāda as well as Mahāyāna sources, also remains untraced. Many passages have been quoted in the YBS, Asm. and the MSAB whose Pāli version may be traced in the extant Tripitakas or later Pāli literature but which seem to have been taken from the Mahāsamghika or Sarvāstivādạ canon or from the Tripitaka of some other Mahāyāna sector school which is no more extant.
Similarly, iwe find one passage quoted in the ŚBh. also occurring in the Asm., which is traced back to the
