Chapter 62
THE GOOD MAN'S TREASURE
Tao is the mysterious secret of the universe, The good man's treasure, and the bad man's refuge. Beautiful sayings can be sold at the market, Noble conduct can be presented as a gift. Though there be bad people, why reject them? Therefore on the crowning of an emperor, On the appointment of the Three Ministers,
Rather than send tributes of jade and teams of four horses, Send in the tribute of Tao.
Wherein did the ancients prize this Tao?
Did they not say, 'to search for the guilty ones and pardon them?' Therefore is (Tao) the treasure of the world.

सज्जन का खजाना
ताओ संसार का रहस्य भरा मर्म हैं,
सज्जन का खजाना, और दुर्जन की पनाह ।
सुंदर वचन बाजार में बिक सकते हैं,
श्रेष्ठ चरित्र भेंट में दिया जा सकता है।
यद्यपि बुरे लोग हो सकते हैं, तथापि उन्हें अस्वीकृत क्यों किया जाए? इसलिए सम्राट के राज्याभिषेक पर, तीन मंत्रियों की नियुक्ति पर,
मणि- माणिक्य और चार-चार घोड़ों के दल भेंट में भेजने के बजाय,
ताओ की भेंट भेजना श्रेयस्कर हैं।
किस बात में पूर्व-पुरुषों ने इस ताओ को मूल्य दिया था ?
क्या उन्होंने नहीं कहा था, 'अपराधियों को खोजने और उन्हें माफ कर देने को ?" इसलिए ताओ संसार का खजाना हैं।
