THE WORLD AND I
The people of the world have enough and to spare, But I am like one left out, My heart must be that of a fool, Being muddled, nebulous! The vulgar are knowing, luminous; I alone am dull, confused. The vulgar are clever, self-assured; I alone, depressed. Patient as the sea, adrift, seemingly aimless. The people of the world all have a purpose; I alone appear stubborn and uncouth. I alone differ from the other people, And value drawing sustenance from the Mother.
अध्याय 20 : खंड 2 संसार और मैं
दुनियावी लोग काफी संपन्न है, इतने कि दूसरों को भी दे सकें, परंतु एक अकेला मैं मानो इस परिधि के बाहर हूं, मानो मेरा हदय किसी मूगर्व के हृदय जैसा ठो, व्यवस्था-शून्य और कोहरे से भरा हुआ। जो गंवार है, वे विज्ञ और तेजोमय दिलवते हैं, मैं ही केवल मंद और भांत हूं। जो गंवार है, वे चालाक और आश्वस्त है, अकेला मैं उदास, अवनमित। समुद्र की तरह धीन, इधर-उधर बहता हुआ-मानो लक्ष्यहीन। सप्रयोजन हैं दुनिया के सब लोग, अकेला मैं दिलवता हूं ठठीला और अभद्र। आँन अकेला मैं ही हूं भिन्न-अन्यों से, क्योंकि देता हूं मुल्य उस पोषण को जो मिलता है सीधा ही माता प्रकृति से।
