14. ववसायहि = sk. व्यवसायेषु. [K. 7.]
The K. extols contentment. I. सुरजम्मु सरइ-moves to the celestial birth.
7. The author from this line onward proceeds towards the discussion of 3 गुणवतs + 4 शिक्षाव्रतs. These seven व्रतs form the शील. (I) दिग्विरतिव्रत; (2) देशविरतिव्रता (3) अनर्थदंडविरतिव्रत are 3 गुणवतs. (1) सामयिकवत; (2) पौषधोपवासव्रत; (3) उपभोगपरिभोगपरिमाणवत; (4) अतिथिसंविभागवत. cf. तत्त्वार्थ.7.16.
In this K. 7-14 only (1) and ( 2 ) गुणवतs are described. [K. 8.]
___This K. describes अनर्थदंडविरतिव्रत. In the घत्ता, the first शिक्षाव्रत is introduced.
सणु = sk. शणम्-hemp from which the ropes are made. लक्ख = sk. लाक्षा lac. कस = sk कषा a lash. सट्ट-a whip cf. Guj. साटको; घरट्ट-a grinding stone; मयणु-sk. मदनम् an intoxicant; महु-sk. मधु honey; उक्खलु sk. उलखल-a mortar; सिल-शिला a stone; करवड-sk. करक a water-jar; ल्हसणु - a curshing implement; cf. G. लसोटवू; समूसलु-along with the pestle. पासाइयाइ जीववहकरणइ - पाशादिकानि जीववधकरणानि.
12-13. introduce सामयिकवत. [K. 9.]
I-2. Three times are prescribed for सामायिकः (1) सुप्रकाशस्य दिनेशस्य उदिते; (2) अनुदिते; (3) as also मध्याह्ने द्विकालै : at the internal of three fails. It should be done at the proper time.
4. सुहइ = sk. सुखेन-easily; it may be मुहइ = sk. मुधा. 5. describes the method. See. T.
तिरयणसुद्धउ = sk. त्रिरत्नशुद्धः सम्यग्ज्ञानदर्शनचारित्रैः शुद्धः ।
7. गेवजिहि-sk. गैवेयकेषु 9 heavens ( विमानs) situated in the neck of a human-shaped universe and above the neck there are 5 अनुत्तरविमानs i.e. विजय, वैजयंत, जयंत, अपराजित, and सर्वार्थसिद्ध. In these 14 heavens, all the dwellers are like इन्द्रs and they are called अहमिन्द्र. : 10. From this line the second शिक्षाव्रत viz. the पौषधोपवासवत is described.
