I was also called Amargupta. The other was born a daughter to a merchant. Her name was Nandayanti and she was married to me. She had the same deceitful affection towards me as in previous birth. She pretended once to have lost her ear-rings. To console her, I gave her another pair. Once while I wanted to take bath, I gave her my ring. She put the ring in the box. When I opened her box, I saw there the ear-rings, which she had pretended to have lost. In the meantime, my wife came and saw the ring in my hand and scented the whole affair. To save herself from disgrace, she prepared a poisonous charm to kill me. But before she could administer it to me, she was stung by a snake and diod.
