preponderance of Parshvanatha temples may be Parshvanatha's association with naga worship. Another reason may be the fact that Jainism was prevalent in Karnataka during Parshvanatha's time and the later advent of Bhadrabahu and his twelve thousand followers belonging to the Mahavira tradition could not have deminished the existing popularity of Parshvanatha worship. This subject of the enduring popularity of Parshvanatha worship in Karnataka provides a fertile field for profitable research.
