Subdivisions of Class 5. This karma is called Ayuh karma. It determines how long we live in a particular body; it may be compared with fetters; it prevents the realisation of the spiritual continuous life, and after this karma is removed, the soul lives in its own body and not in any physical or karmic body. There are four subdivisions of the ayuh karina, namely:
1. That karna by reason of which the person lives for a length of time (it may be a billion years) in the pleasurable condition, known as the Devas, having a fine subtle body.
2. That karma by reason of which the person lives for a length of time (it may be a billion years) in the lower subtle body condition, in which there is no pleasure at all; but pain all the time. It is called the Naraka condition.
3. That karına by reason of which, the person lives in the human state with a physical body. It is called Manushayuh-karma.
4. is that karma by reason of which, the entity lives as an animal, with a body as found among animals. (This includes worms, birds, vegetables, bears, etc.) Tiryanchayuh-karma.
The ayuh karma determines the state, in which the entity has to stay, and is caused by the words, and thoughts, and actions in the previous life immediately next backwards.
