હેમસમીક્ષા
વિદ્વાને એ પ્રાકૃતભાષાના વ્યાકરણ માટે વ્યવસ્થિત સ ંશોધનાત્મક ગ્રંથા લખ્યા છે. સિદ્ધહેમચંદ્રના આઠમા અધ્યાયની વ્યવસ્થિત આવૃત્તિ બહાર લાવવાનું પ્રથમ માન પ્રા. પીશલને ફાળેજાય છે.૯
પ્રાકૃતભાષાઓના મૂળ સબંધે વિદ્વાનેામાં મતભેદ છે. ડૉ. ભાંડારકર, પ્રેા. લાસેન વગેરે તેને સ ંસ્કૃતના પાછળના સ્વરૂપ તરીકે માને છે; જ્યારે પ્રેા. પીશલ, પ્રા. વાકરનેગલ વગેરે પ્રાકૃતના મૂળને પ્રાચીનતમ પ્રાકૃતેમાંથી અવતીર્ણ થએલી માને છે. બીજા મતને અત્યારે વધારે અનુમેાદન મળતું જાય છે. પ્રાચીનેમાં પણ ઘણાને અભિપ્રાય બીજા મતને અનુકૂળ મળે a much expanded form.
