Rohini, and entrusted them with five grains of rice each, telling them that he would call for them after some time.
Ujjhiyā (meaning throwing away) threw away the grains thinking that her father-in-law had plenty of them in his store-house. Bhogavaiya (one who eats) swallowed them. Rakkhiyā (one who preserves) put them carefully in her casket and preserved them. But Rohini (one who cultivates) planted them and reaped a rich harvest year after year.
After lapse of four years Dhanya called his daughters-in-law and asked for the five grains of rice. On hearing from each one of them what they had done with the grains he entrusted Ujjhikā with the job of cleaining and sweeping the house, and Bhogavaiya with the kitchen work. He rewarded Rakkhiya by appointing her as the head of the treasury and Rohini was made the mistress of the house.
