कण भी स्पृष्ट हो जाए तो वह पदार्थ अगाह्य हो जाता है, वैसे ही आधाकर्म का अंशमात्र भी पूरे भोजन को अशुद्ध बना देता है। आचार्य हरिभद्र ने संभाव्यमान आधाकर्म के अवयव से मिश्र आहार को पूतिकर्म दोष माना है। केवल आधाकर्म से स्पृष्ट होने पर ही पूति नहीं होती, पूति से स्पृष्ट आहार भी पूतिदोष युक्त होता है।
मूलाचार में पूति के पांच भेद निर्दिष्ट हैं-१. चुल्ली २. उक्खा (ऊखल) ३. दर्वी ४. भाजन ५. गंध। अनगारधर्मामृत में पूति दोष के दो भेद प्राप्त होते हैं-अप्रासुकमिश्र तथा कल्पित। अप्रासुक द्रव्य से मिला हुआ प्रासुक द्रव्य अप्रासुकमिश्र पूतिकर्म कहलाता है तथा जब तक साधु को यह भोजन न दिया जाए , तब तक कोई उपयोग न करे, यह कल्पित नामक दूसरा पूतिदोष है। अप्रासुक और आधाकर्म में बहुत अन्तर है। अप्रासुक का अर्थ है अचित्त तथा आधाकर्म का अर्थ है साधु के निमित्त अचित्त किया हुआ आहार। पूतिदोष के भेद-प्रभेदों को निम्न चार्ट से प्रस्तुत किया जा सकता है

If six of these are *Prasook* and one is *Ahadkarma*, then *Pooti* dosha occurs.
