३५. जंघाहीणा' ओमे, कुसुमपुरे सिस्सजोगरहकरणं ।
खुड्ड दुगंजणसुणणं, गमणं 'देसंत ओसरणं॥४४॥ ३६. भिक्खे परिहायंते, थेराणं 'तेसि ओमें ५ देंताणं।
सहभुज चंदगुत्ते , ओमोदरियाएँ दोब्बल्लं ॥ ४५ ॥ ३७. चाणक्क पुच्छ इट्टालचुण्ण दारं पिहित्तु धूमे य।
दटुं कुच्छपसंसा, थेरसमीवे उवालंभो ॥४६॥ जंघाबल से हीन आचार्य कुसुमपुर नगर में रहने लगे। दुर्भिक्ष होने पर योग्य शिष्य को एकान्त में (योनिप्राभृत) ग्रंथ की वाचना दी। दो क्षुल्लक मुनियों ने वह सुन ली। शिष्य को आचार्य बनाकर देशान्तर में प्रेषित कर दिया। दुर्भिक्ष में भिक्षा की कमी होने पर भी आचार्य क्षुल्लकद्वय को बांटकर आहार करते। बाद में अंजन-प्रयोग से अदृश्य होकर क्षुल्लकद्वय राजा चन्द्रगुप्त के साथ भोजन करने लगे। ऊणोदरी से चन्द्रगुप्त को दुर्बलता का अनुभव होने लगा। चाणक्य ने कारण पूछा। उसने ईंट का बारीक चूर्ण सब जगह फैला दिया और द्वार बंद करके चारों ओर धुंआ कर दिया। क्षुल्लकद्वय को देखकर चन्द्रगुप्त ने जुगुप्सा की। चाणक्य ने प्रशंसा की। समीप जाने पर आचार्य ने चाणक्य को उपालम्भ दिया।
