पिंडनियुक्ति भाष्य पिंडनियुक्ति और उसका भाष्य-ये दोनों ग्रंथ मिलकर एक रूप हो गए हैं। हस्तप्रतियों में भी बिना किसी निर्देश के दोनों ग्रंथ एक साथ लिखे हुए हैं। प्रकाशित टीका में संपादक ने कुछ गाथाओं के आगे भाष्य गाथा के क्रमांक लगाए हैं लेकिन यह पृथक्करण सम्यक् प्रतीत नहीं होता। ऐसा संभव लगता है कि टीकाकार ने जहां-जहां जिन गाथाओं के लिए भाष्यकार' का उल्लेख किया है, उन-उन गाथाओं एवं उनसे सम्बन्धित गाथाओं के आगे भाष्य के क्रमांक लगा दिए हैं। हमने भाष्य और नियुक्ति गाथाओं को पृथक् करने का प्राथमिक प्रयास किया है। पृथक्करण के समय अनेक स्थलों पर ऐसा अनुभव हुआ कि अनेक गाथाएं जो नियुक्ति के क्रम में प्रकाशित हैं, वे भाष्य की होनी चाहिए। यद्यपि इस कार्य में समय और शक्ति बहुत लगी, अनेक बार गाथाओं की संख्या बदलनी पड़ी। शताधिक बार पूरे ग्रंथ का परावर्तन करना पड़ा फिर भी यह दावे के साथ नहीं कहा जा सकता कि पृथक्करण का यह प्रयास पूर्णतया सही ही है। इस क्षेत्र में कार्य करने की और भी बहुत संभावनाएं हैं। इतना अवश्य है कि जो व्यक्ति इस क्षेत्र में कार्य करेंगे, उनके लिए यह पृथक्करण का प्रयास नींव का पत्थर साबित हो सकेगा।
