It substitutes हो, हुव, and हव and हु before अचित् termi. nations ( all personal terminations except 3rd Pers. Sing. and ह 2nd Pers. Plu.).
The forms of the substitutes ga and 69 are exactly like those of the root y above.

होएन्ति-होअन्ते-होएइरे Optional forms in ज and जाः
होज-होज्जा in all persons and numbers. Also होजमिहोजामि-होजे मि; होजमो-म-मुः होजामो-म-मु; होजेमो-म-मु &c. Before न्ति and न्ते we have होजन्ति and होजन्ते only, not होज्जान्ति and होजान्ते; because आ of जा is shortened by 'संयोगे'. Before इरे, there are two forms होज्जइरे and होजाइरे.
