(18) कृ takes ईर in place of यक्
कीरति-ते. P. 262-263. रो लस्तु चूलिकापैशाच्याम् ॥३।२। ६४ ॥ p. 262
Now begins the treatment of the Chuliká Pais'âchî. The
principal features are as under:(1) ग् , ज, इ, दु, ब् , घ् , झू, द, ध् , and भू are changed respectively
to क, च्, द, त्, प्, ख्, छ, ठ, थ् , and फमार्गणः- मक्कनो; जीमूतः-चीमूतः; डमरुकः-टमलुको; दामोदरः-तामोतलो बाल:-पालो; मेघः-मेखो; निर्झरः-निच्छलो; गाढम्-काठं; धारा
-थाला; भवः-फवो. (2) According to some, the above changes do not take place
when the letters ग्, ज् , &c. are initial and in the root युज
गती, घनो, जनो, &c., नियोजितं. P. 264-286. स्यम्यत उत् ॥३।४।२॥ p. 265
This is the first Sûtra relating to the Apabhrams'a dialect. In the Apabhramsa अ is changed to उ before सु and अम् (Nom. and Acc. Sing. affixes). The following are the principal changes in the Apabhrams'a
तु मो अवम् ॥ ३ । ३ । ३ ॥ p. 265(1) In the Apabhramsa म्, not initial and not conjunct, and
when following a vowel, is optionally changed to - कमलम्-कमलु-कवलु; भ्रमरः-भवरु-भमरु. The forms of TTH are given at the end.
अचस्तवोखौ ॥३।३।२॥ p. 267-- (2) क, ख्, त, थ्, प्, and , when not initial and not conjunct,
and when following a vowel, are in the Apabhrams'a respectively changed to ग्, घ, द्, पू, ब्, and भूलोकः-लोगु; काका-कागु; मखः-मधु; विशिखः-विसिधु; सुतः-सुदु; नाथः-णाधु; शतपथः-सदबधु; कोपः-कोबु; ताप:-ताबु; रेफः-रेभु;
कफ:-कभु. (3) म्ह, substitute in the Prakrita for इम्,ष्म् &c., is changed to स्म
ब्राह्मणः-बम्मणु; अश्मा-अम्भु; काश्मीरः-कम्भूरु. (4) र, when second member of a conjunct consonant, is option
ally droppedप्रियः-पिउ-प्रिउ.
