पद्मपुराणे
दानतो 'सातप्राप्तिश्च स्वर्गमोक्षककारणम् । इति श्रुत्वा पुनः पृष्टो रावणो वालुकां गतः ॥१०॥ तथा नारायणो ज्ञातो लचमणोऽधोगतिं गतः । उत्थाय दुरितस्यान्ते नाथ कोऽनुभविष्यति ॥१०॥ प्रापत्स्यते गति का वा दशाननचरः २प्रभो। को नु वाऽहं भविष्यामीत्येवमिच्छामि वेदितुम् ॥११॥ इति स्वयंप्रभे प्रश्नं कृत्वा विदितचेतसि । सर्वज्ञो वचनं प्राह भविष्यद्भवसम्भवम् ॥११॥ भविष्यतः स्वकर्माभ्युदयौ रावणलचमणी । तृतीयनरकादेत्य अनुपूर्वाच्च मन्दरात् ॥१२॥ शृणु सीतेन्द्र निर्जित्य दुःखं नरकसम्भवम् । नगर्या विजयावत्यां मनुष्यत्वेन चाप्स्यते ॥१३॥ गृहिण्या रोहिणीनाम्न्यां सुनन्दस्य कुटुम्बिनः । सम्यग्दृष्टः प्रियौ पुत्रौ क्रमेणती भविष्यतः ॥११॥ अहहासर्षिासाख्यौ वेदितव्यौ च सद्गुणैः । अत्यन्तमहचेतस्कौ श्लाघनीयक्रियापरौ ॥१५॥
गृहस्थविधिनाभ्यच्यं देवदेवं जिनेश्वरम् । अणुव्रतधरौ काले सुग्रीवाणौ भविष्यतः ॥१६॥ पम्चेन्द्रियसुखं तत्र चिरं प्राप्य मनोहरम् । च्युत्वा भूयश्च तत्रैव जनिष्येते महाकुले ॥१७॥ सदानेन हरिक्षेत्रं प्राप्य च त्रिदिवं गतौ । प्रच्युतौ पुरि तत्रैव नृपपुत्रौ भविष्यतः ।।११।। "तातः कुमारकीयाख्यो लचमीस्तु जननी तयोः। वीरौ कुमारकावेतौ जयकान्तजयप्रभो ॥११६॥ ततः परं तपः कृत्वा लान्तवं कल्पमाश्रितौ। विबुधोत्तमतां गत्वा भोच्यते तद्भवं सुखम् ॥१२०॥ स्वमत्र भरतक्षेत्रे च्युतः समारणाच्युतात् । सर्वरश्नपतिः श्रीमान चक्रवर्ती भविष्यसि ॥१२॥
तौ च स्वर्गच्युतौ देवौ पुण्यनिस्यन्दतेजसा । इन्द्राम्भोदरथाभिख्यौ तव पुत्रौ भविष्यतः ॥१२२॥ हैं क्योंकि वहाँके मनुष्योंका यह स्वभाव ही है। यथार्थमें दानसे भोगकी संपदाएँ प्राप्त होती हैं ॥१०७॥ दानसे सुखकी प्राप्ति होती है और दान स्वर्ग तथा मोक्षका प्रधान कारण है। इस प्रकार भामण्डलके दानका माहात्म्य सुनकर सीतेन्द्रने बालुकाप्रभा पृथिवीमें पड़े हुए रावण और उसी अधोभूमिमें पड़े लक्ष्मणके विषयमें पूछा कि हे नाथ ! यह लक्ष्मण पापका अन्त होनेपर नरकसे निकलकर क्या होगा ?, हे प्रभो! वह रावणका जीव कौन गतिको प्राप्त होगा और मैं स्वयं इसके बाद क्या होऊँगा? यह सब मैं जानना चाहता हूँ ॥१०८-११०॥ इस प्रकार प्रश्नकर जब स्वयंप्रभ नामका सीतेन्द्र उत्तर जाननेके लिए उद्यत चित्त हो गया तब सर्वज्ञ देवने उनके आगामी भवोंकी उत्पत्तिसे सम्बन्ध रखनेवाले वचन कहे ॥१११।।
उन्होंने कहा कि हे सीतेन्द्र ! सुन, स्वकृत कर्मके अभ्युदयसे सहित रावण और लक्ष्मण, नरक सम्बन्धी दुःख भोगकर तथा तीसरे नरकसे निकलकर मेरुपर्वतसे पूर्वकी ओर विजयावती नामक नगरीमें सुनन्द नामक सम्यग्दृष्टि गृहस्थकी रोहिणी नामक स्त्रीके क्रमशः अर्हद्दास और ऋषिदास नामके पुत्र होंगे। ये पुत्र सद्गुणोंसे प्रसिद्ध, अत्यधिक उत्सवपूर्ण चित्तके धारक और प्रशंसनीय क्रियाओंके करनेमें तत्पर होंगे ॥११२-११५॥ वहाँ गृहस्थकी विधिसे देवाधिदेव जिनेन्द्र भगवान्की पूजाकर अणुव्रतके धारी होंगे और अन्तमें मरकर उत्तम देव होंगे ।।११६॥ वहाँ चिरकाल तक पश्चेन्द्रियोंके मनोहर सुख प्राप्तकर वहाँसे च्युत हो उसी महाकुलमें पुनः उत्पन्न होंगे ॥११७॥ फिर पात्रदानके प्रभावसे हरिक्षेत्र प्राप्त कर स्वर्ग जावेंगे। तदनन्तर वहाँसे च्युत हो उसी नगरमें राजपुत्र होंगे ॥११८॥ वहाँ इनके पिताका नाम कुमारकीर्ति और माताका नाम लक्ष्मी होगा तथा स्वयं ये दोनों कुमार जयकान्त और जयप्रभ नामके धारक होंगे ॥११॥ तदनन्तर तप करके लान्तव स्वर्ग जावेंगे। वहाँ उत्तम देवपद प्राप्तकर तत्सम्बन्धी सुखका उपभोग करेंगे ॥१२०।। हे सीतेन्द्र ! तू आरणाच्युत कल्पसे च्युत हो इस भरतक्षेत्रके रत्नस्थलपुर नामक नगरमें सब रत्नोंका स्वामी चक्ररथ नामका श्रीमान् चक्रवर्ती होगा ॥१२१।। रावण और लक्ष्मणके जीव जो लान्तव स्वर्गमें देव हुए थे वे वहाँसे च्युत हो पुण्य रसके प्रभावसे तुम्हारे क्रमशः इन्द्ररथ

Ravana and Lakshmana, due to the fruition of their own actions, will experience the suffering of hell and, after emerging from the third hell, will be born in the city of Vijayavati, east of Mount Mandara. They will be the sons of Rohini, the wife of Sunanda, a Samyak-drishti householder. Their names will be Arhad-dasa and Rishi-dasa. These sons will be known for their good qualities, possessors of a very festive mind, and eager to perform praiseworthy actions.

"They will worship the Lord of Lords, the Jina, according to the rules of householders, and will be followers of the Anuvrata. In the end, they will die and become excellent gods.

"There, they will enjoy the pleasures of the five senses for a long time, and then, after falling from that state, they will be reborn in the same great family.

"Then, due to the power of their past giving, they will attain Hari-kshetra and go to heaven. After falling from there, they will be born as princes in the same city.

"Their father will be named Kumarakirti and their mother will be named Lakshmi. These two Kumaras will be named Jayakant and Jayaprabha.

"After that, they will perform austerities and attain the Lantva heaven. There, they will attain the position of a supreme god and enjoy the pleasures associated with that state.

"O Sita-Indra, you, having fallen from the Aranachya-chuta kalpa, will be born in the city of Ratna-sthala-pura in this Bharat-kshetra. You will be a glorious chakravarti, the lord of all jewels, named Chakra-ratha.

"Those two gods, Ravana and Lakshmana, who had become gods in the Lantva heaven, will fall from there and, due to the influence of the essence of merit, will be your sons, Indra-ratha and Ambhodara-ratha."

"For, it is the nature of the people there that they truly obtain wealth through giving. Giving brings happiness, and giving is the main cause of heaven and liberation."
