________________ पद्मपुराणे सुगन्धिवस्त्रमाल्योऽसाववतीर्य तुरङ्गतः । आदरेण तमुक्षाणं दयावानातुरं गतः ॥४१॥ दीयमाने जपे तेन कर्णे पञ्चनमस्कृतेः । शृण्वन्नुतशरीरो स शरीरान्निरितस्ततः ॥४२|| श्रीदत्तायां च सञ्जज्ञे तनुदुः कर्मजालकः । छत्रच्छायोऽभवत्तोषी दुर्लभे पुत्रजन्मनि ॥४३॥ उदारा नगरे शोभा जनिता द्रव्यसम्पदा । समुत्सवो महान् जातो वादित्रवधिरीकृतः ||१४|| ततः कर्मानुभावेन पूर्वजन्मसमस्मरन् । गोदुःखं दारुणं तच्च वाहशीतातपादिजम् ||४५|| श्रुतिं पाचनमस्कारों चेतसा च सदा वहन् । बाललीलाप्रसक्तोऽपि महासुभगविभ्रमः ||१६|| कदाचिद् विहरन् प्राप्तः स तां वृषमृतक्षितिम् । पर्यज्ञासीत् प्रदेशश्च पूर्वमाचरितान् स्वयम् ॥४७॥ वृषभध्वजनामासौ कुमारो वृषभूमिकाम् । अवतीर्य गजात् स्वैरमपश्यद् दुःखिताशयः ॥ ४८ ॥ बुधं समाधिरत्नस्य दातारं श्लाध्यचेष्टितम् । अपश्यन् दर्शने तस्य दध्यौ चौपयिकं ततः ॥ ४६ ॥ अथ कैलासशृङ्गामं कारयित्वा जिनालयम् । चरितानि पुराणानि पट्टकादिष्खलेखयत् ॥५०॥ द्वारदेशे च तस्यैव परं स्वभवचित्रितम् । पुरुषः पालने न्यस्तैरधिष्ठितमतिष्ठित् ॥५१॥ बन्दारुश्चैत्यभवनं तत् पद्मरुचिरागमत् । अपश्यच्च प्रहृष्टात्मा तच्चित्रं विस्मितस्ततः ॥ ५२ ॥ ३०२ उसने पृथिबी पर पड़ा एक बूढ़ा बैल देखा ||४०|| सुगन्धित वस्त्र तथा माला आदिको धारण करनेवाला पद्मरुचि घोड़ेसे उतर कर दयालु होता हुआ आदरपूर्वक उस बैलके पास गया ॥४१॥ पद्मरुचिने उसके कानमें पञ्चनमस्कार मन्त्रका जाप सुनाया । सो जब पद्मरुचि उसके कान में पञ्चनमस्कार मन्त्रका जप दे रहा था तभी उस मन्त्रको सुनती हुई बैलकी आत्मा उस शरीर से बाहर from गई अर्थात् नमस्कार मन्त्र सुनते-सुनते उसके प्राण निकल गये || ४२ || मन्त्र के प्रभाव से जिसके कर्मोंका जाल कुछ कम हो गया था ऐसा वह पद्मरुचि, उसी नगर के राजा छत्रच्छायकी श्रीदत्ता नामकी रानीके पुत्र हुआ । यतश्च छत्रच्छायके पुत्र नहीं था इसलिए वह उसके उत्पन्न होनेपर बहुत संतुष्ट हुआ ||४३|| नगर में बहुत भारी संपदा खर्च कर अत्यधिक शोभा की गई तथा बाजोंसे जो बहरा हो रहा था ऐसा महान् उत्सव किया गया ||४४॥ तदनन्तर कर्मों के संस्कारसे उसे अपने पूर्व जन्मका स्मरण हो गया। बैलपर्याय में बोझा ढोना, शीत तथा आतप आदिसे उत्पन्न दारुण दुःख उसने भोगे थे तथा जो उसे पञ्चनमस्कार मन्त्र श्रवण करनेका अवसर मिला था वह सब उसकी स्मृतिपटलमें भूलने लगा | महासुन्दर चेष्टाओंको धारण करता हुआ वह, जब बालकालीन क्रीड़ाओंमें आसक्त रहता था तब भी मनमें पञ्चनमस्कार मन्त्रके श्रवणका सदा ध्यान रखता था || ४५-४६ || किसी एक दिन वह विहार करता हुआ उस स्थान पर पहुँचा जहाँ उस बैलका मरण हुआ था । उसने एक-एक कर अपने घूमने के सब स्थानोंको पहिचान लिया |||४५|| तदनन्तर वृषभध्वज नामको धारण करनेवाला वह राजकुमार हाथीसे उतर कर दुःखित चित्त होता हुआ इच्छानुसार बहुत देर तक बैलके मरनेकी उस भूमिको देखता रहा ||४८ ॥ समाधि मरण रूपी रत्नके दाता तथा उत्तम चेष्टाओंसे सहित उस बुद्धिमान पद्मरुचिको जब वह नहीं देख सका तब उसने उसके देखनेके लिए योग्य उपायका विचार किया ॥ ४६ ॥ अथानन्तर उसने उसी स्थान पर कैलास के शिखर के समान एक जिनमन्दिर बनवाया, उसमें चित्रपट आदि पर महापुरुषों के चरित तथा पुराण लिखवाये ॥५०॥ उसी मन्दिरके द्वारपर उसने अपने पूर्वभव के चित्र चित्रित एक चित्रपट लगवा दिया तथा उसकी परीक्षा करने के लिए चतुर मनुष्य उसके समीप खड़े कर दिये ॥ ५१ ॥ तदनन्तर वन्दना की इच्छा करता हुआ पद्मरुचि एक दिन उस मन्दिर में आया और Jain Education International १. निर्गतः । For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
