भेरीनिनादैः कणद्वंशवीणासुमुन्दैणज्झझरीकैः, स्वनद्भरिशंखैमहामेघसङ्घातनिर्घोषमन्द्रध्वनिदुन्दुभिवातरम्यमनोहारिदेवाङ्गनागीतकान्तैनभोमण्डलं व्यातमासीत्तदा प्रतिभयतमसि प्रभचक्रमालोक्य तत्राद्धरानेविमानस्थरत्नादिजातं निशम्य ध्वनि दुन्दुभीनां च तारसमुद्विग्नचित्तोऽभवद्राघवो लक्ष्मणश्च क्षणं तद् विदित्वा यथावत्पुनस्तुष्टिमेतौ। उदधिरिव कपिध्वजानां बलं क्षुभ्यते राक्षसानां तथैवोर्जितं भक्तितस्ते च विद्याधराः पभनारायणाद्याश्च सन्मानवाः सद्विपेन्द्राधिरूढास्तथा भानुकर्णेन्द्रजिन्मेघवाहादयो गन्तुमभ्युद्यताः रथवरतुरगान् समारुह्य शुभ्रातपत्रध्वजप्रौढहंसावलीशोभनप्रोल्लसच्चामराटोपयुक्ता नभश्छादयन्तसमीपीबभूवुः । प्रसूनायुधोद्यानमिन्द्रा इवोदारसम्मोदगन्धर्वयक्षाप्सरःसङ्घसंसेविता वाहनेभ्योऽवतीर्याधिनिर्मुक्तकेत्वातपत्रादियोगाः समागत्य योगीन्द्रमभ्यर्च्य पादारविन्दद्वयं संविधाय प्रणामं प्रभक्त्या परिष्टुत्य सत्स्तोत्रमन्त्रप्रगावचोभिर्यथाई क्षितौ सन्निविश्य स्थिता धर्मशुश्रूषया युक्तचित्ताः सुखं शुश्रुवुर्धर्ममेवं मुनीन्द्रास्यतो निर्गतम् । गतय इह चतस्रो भवे यासु नानामहादुःखचक्राधिरूढाः सदा देहिनः पर्यटन्त्यष्टकर्मावन द्वाः शुभं चाशुभं च स्वयं कर्म कुर्वन्ति रौद्रातयुक्ताः महामोहनीयेन तस्मिन्नरा बुद्धियुक्ताः कृता ये सदा प्राणिघातैरसत्यैः परद्रव्यहारैः परस्त्रीपरिष्वङ्गरागैः प्रमाणप्रहीणार्थसङ्गैर्महालोभसंवर्द्धितैर्यान्ति योगं कुकर्माभिनुन्नास्तके मृत्युमाप्य मृदङ्ग, गम्भीर और भेरियोंके नादसे, बजती हुई वासुरियों और वीणाओंकी उत्तम झनकारसे, झन-झन करनेवाली झाँझोंसे शब्द करनेवाले अनेक शङ्कोंसे, महा मेघमण्डलकी गर्जनाके समान गम्भीर ध्वनिसे युक्त दुन्दुभि-समूहके रमणीय शब्दोंसे और मनको हरण करने वाली देवाङ्गना के सुन्दर सङ्गीतसे आकाशमण्डल व्याप्त हो गया था। उस अध रात्रिके समय सहसा अन्धकार विलीन हो गया और विमानोंमें लगे हुए रत्नों आदिका प्रकाश फैल गया, सो उसे देख तथा दुन्दुभियोंकी गम्भीर गर्जना सुनकर राम-लक्ष्मण पहले तो कुछ उद्विग्नचित्त हुए फिर क्षण-एकमें ही यथार्थ समाचार जानकर सन्तोषको प्राप्त हुए। वानरों और राक्षसोंकी सेनामें ऐसी हलचल मच गई मानो समुद्र ही लहराने लगा हो। तदनन्तर भक्तिसे प्रेरित विद्याधर, राम-लक्ष्मण आदि सत्पुरुष और भानुकर्ण, इन्द्रजित् , मेघवाहन आदि राक्षस, कोई उत्तम हाथियों पर आरूढ होकर और कोई रथ तथा उत्तम घोड़ा पर सवार हो केवल भगवान्के समीप चले । उस समय वे अपने सफेद छत्रों, ध्वजाओं और तरुण हंसावलीके समान शोभायमान चमरोंसे युक्त थे तथा आकाशको आच्छादित करते हुए जा रहे थे।
जिस प्रकार अत्यधिक हर्षसे युक्त गन्धर्व, यक्ष और अप्सराओं के समूहसे सेवित इन्द्र अपने कामोद्यानमें प्रवेश करता है, उसी प्रकार सब लोगोंने अपने-अपने वाहनोंसे उतरकर तथा ध्वजा छत्रादिके संयोगका त्यागकर लङ्काके उस कुसुमायुध उद्यानमें प्रवेश किया । समीपमें जाकर सबने मुनिराज की पूजा की, उनके चरण कमल युगलमें प्रणाम किया और उत्तम स्तोत्र तथा मन्त्रोंसे परिपूर्ण वचनोंसे भक्ति पूर्वक स्तुति की । तदनन्तर धर्मश्रवण करनेकी इच्छासे सब यथायोग्य पृथिवी पर बैठ गये और सावधान चित्त होकर मुनिराजके मुखसे निकले हुए धर्मका इस प्रकार श्रवण करने लगे
उन्होंने कहा कि इस संसारमें नरक तिर्यञ्च मनुष्य और देवके भेदसे चार गतियाँ हैं जिनमें नाना प्रकारके महादुःखरूपी चक्र पर चढ़े हुए समस्त प्राणी निरन्तर घूमते रहते हैं तथा अष्टकर्मों से वद्ध हो स्वयं शुभ अशुभ कर्म करते हैं। सदा आर्तरौद्र ध्यानसे युक्त रहते हैं तथा मोहनीय कर्म उन्हें बुद्धिरहित कर देता है। ये प्राणी सदा प्राणिघात, असत्य भाषण, परद्रव्यापहरण, परस्त्री समालिङ्गन और अपरिमित धनका समागम, महालोभ कषायके साथ

The sky was filled with the sounds of drums, the melodious notes of the veena and the flute, the jingling of cymbals, the roar of conch shells, the thunderous rumble of clouds, the deep resonant sound of the duṇḍubhi, and the enchanting music of celestial maidens. Seeing the light of the approaching army in the darkness, and hearing the sound of the drums, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa were initially apprehensive, but upon learning the truth, they were filled with joy. The army of the monkeys and the demons were in such a frenzy that it seemed as if the ocean itself was churning. Then, driven by devotion, the celestial beings, including Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, and the demons, including Bhānukaṛṇa, Indrajit, and Meghavāhana, set out to meet the sage. Some rode on elephants, some on chariots, and some on horses. They were adorned with white umbrellas, banners, and yak-tail whisks, and they filled the sky as they approached.

Just as Indra enters his pleasure garden, surrounded by a throng of Gandharvas, Yakṣas, and Apsaras, so too did all the beings descend from their vehicles, leaving behind their banners and umbrellas, and enter the Kusumāyudha garden of Lanka. Approaching the sage, they paid their respects, bowing down to his lotus feet, and praising him with hymns and mantras. Then, with a desire to hear the Dharma, they sat down on the ground, their minds focused, and listened intently to the words of the sage.

He said, "There are four paths in this world: hell, animal life, human life, and the life of the gods. All beings, bound by the eight karmas, wander endlessly on the wheel of suffering, creating both good and bad karma. They are always consumed by anger and greed, and their minds are clouded by delusion. These beings engage in killing, lying, stealing, adultery, and the accumulation of wealth, driven by the passion of greed.
