द्विचत्वारिंशत्तम पर्व पानदानप्रभावेण ससीतौ रामलक्ष्मणौ । इहैव रत्नहेमादि' संपयुको बभूवतुः ॥१॥ ततश्चापीकरानेकभक्तिविन्याससुन्दरम् । सुस्तम्भवेदिकागर्भगृहसंगतमुन्नतम् ॥२॥ स्थूलमुक्ताफलस्रग्भिर्विराजत्पवनायनम् । बुबुदादर्शलम्बूषखण्डचन्द्रादिमण्डितम् ॥३॥ शयनासनवादिव्रवस्त्रगन्धादिपूरितम् । चतुर्मिर्धारणर्युक्तं विमानप्रतिम रथम् ॥४॥ आरूढा विचरन्त्येते प्रतिधातविवर्जिताः । जटायुसहिता रम्ये वने सत्त्ववतां नृणाम् ॥५॥ क्वचिद्दिनं क्वचित् पक्षं कचिन्मासं मनोहरे। यथेप्सितकृतक्रीडाः प्रदेशे तेऽवत स्थिरे ॥६॥ निवासमत्र कुर्मोऽत्र कुर्म इत्यभिलाषिणः । महोक्षनवशष्पेच्छा विचेरुस्ते वनं सुखम् ॥७॥ महानिरगम्भीरान् कांश्चिदुच्चावचान् बहून् । उत्तङ्गपादपान् देशान् जग्मुरुल्लध्य ते शनैः ॥८॥ स्वेच्छया पर्यटन्तस्ते सिंहा इव मयोज्झिताः । मध्यं दण्डककक्षस्य प्रविष्टा भीरुदुःखदम् ॥९॥ विचित्रशिखरा यत्र हिमाद्रिगिरिसंनिभाः । रम्या निझरनद्यश्च मुक्ताहारोपमाः स्थिताः ॥१०॥ अश्वत्थैस्तिन्तिडीकामिर्वदरीभिर्विभीतकैः । शिरीषैः कदलैलरक्षोटैः सरलैर्धयैः ॥११।। कदम्बैस्तिलकैलोधेरशोकैर्नीललोहितैः। जम्बूभिः पाटलाभिश्च चूतैराम्रातकैः शुभैः ॥१२॥ चम्पकैः कर्णिकारैश्च सालैस्तालैः प्रियङ्गुभिः । सप्तपर्णैस्तमालैश्च नागैर्नन्दिभिरर्जुनैः ॥१३॥ केसरैश्चन्दनैपर्मजैहि गुलकैर्वटैः । सितासितैरगुरुभिः कुन्दै रम्माभिरिङ्गदैः ॥१४॥ पझकैर्मुचिलिन्दैश्च कुटिलैः पारिजातिकैः । बन्धूकैः केतकीभिश्च मधूकैः खदिरैस्तथा ॥१५॥
अथानन्तर पात्रदानके प्रभावसे सीता सहित राम-लक्ष्मण इसी पर्यायमें रत्न तथा सबर्णादि सम्पत्तिसे यक्त हो गये ॥१॥ तदनन्तर जो स्वर्णमयी अनेक बेल-बटोंके विन्य था, जो उत्तमोत्तम खम्भों, वेदिका तथा गर्भगृहसे सहित था, ऊँचा था, जिसके झरोखे बड़े-बड़े मोतियोंकी मालासे सुशोभित थे, जो छोटे-छोटे गोले, दर्पण, फन्नुस, तथा खण्डचन्द्र आदि सजावटकी सामग्रीसे अलंकृत था, शयन, आसन, वादित्र, वस्त्र तथा गन्ध आदिसे भरा था, जिसमें चार हाथी जुते थे और जो विमानके समान था ऐसे रथपर सवार होकर ये सब बिना किसी बाधाके जटायु पक्षोके साथ-साथ धैर्यशाली मनुष्योंके मनको हरण करनेवाले वनमें विचरण करते थे ।।२-५|| वे उस मनोहर वनमें इच्छानुसार कोड़ा करते हुए कहीं एक दिन, कहीं एक पक्ष और कहीं एक माह ठहरते थे॥६॥ 'हम यहाँ निवास करेंगे' 'यहाँ ठहरेंगे' इस प्रकार कहते हए वे किसी बड़े बैलकी नयी घास खानेकी इच्छाके समान
विचरण करते थे ||७|| जो बड़े-बड़े निर्झरोंसे गम्भीर थे तथा जिनमें ऊंचे-ऊंचे वृक्ष लग रहे थे ऐसे कितने ही ऊँचे-नीचे प्रदेशोंको पार कर वे धीरे-धीरे जा रहे थे |८|| सिंहोंके समान निर्भय हो स्वेच्छासे घूमते हुए वे, भीरु मनुष्योंको भय देनेवाले दण्डक वनके उस मध्य भागमें प्रविष्ट हुए जहाँ हिमगिरिके समान विचित्र पर्वत थे तथा मोतियोंके हारके समान सुन्दर निर्झर और नदियाँ स्थित थीं ॥९-१०॥ जहाँका वन, पीपल, इमली, बैरी, बहेड़े, शिरीष, केले, राल, अक्षरोट, देवदारु, धौ, कदम्ब, तिलक, लोध, अशोक, नील और लाल रंगको धारण करनेवाले जामुन, गुलाब, आम, अंवाडा, चम्पा, कनेर, सागौन, ताल, प्रियंगु, सप्तपर्ण, तमाल, नागकेशर, नन्दी, कोहा, बकौली, चन्दन, नीप, भोजपत्र, हिंगुलक, बरगद, सफेद तथा काला अगुरु, कुन्द, रम्भा, इंगुआ, पद्मक, मुचकुन्द, कुटिल, १. हेमाभि ज.,ख.। हेमानि म. । २. भयोज्झितां म.। ३. रकोठः म.।
