पद्मपुराणे परिसान्त्वनसूरिभ्यां प्राप्ताभ्यां निश्चयं परम् । कृच्छ्रान्निवर्तितौ ताभ्यां प्रणिपत्य पुनः पुनः ॥२०३॥ निवर्त्यमानबन्धूनां समूहेनान्विताविमौ । राजगेहाद्विनिष्क्रान्ती देवाविव सुरालयात् ॥२०॥ वर्तते किमिदं मातः कस्येदं मतमीदृशम् । अभाग्येयं पुरी कष्टमथवा सकला मही ॥२०५।। यामोऽनेन समं दुःखमेताभ्यां सह गम्यते । महाशक्ताविमौ कृच्छाधरणीधरगह्वरात् ॥२०६॥ पश्य सीता कथं याति नाथेनैषानुमोदिता । अस्याः सुविहितं सर्व पतिभ्राता करिष्यति ॥२०७॥ अहो परमधन्येयं जानकी रूपशालिनी। विनयांशुकसंवीता मर्तारं यानुगच्छति ॥२०॥ अस्माकमपि नारीणामेषैव भवताद् गतिः । उदाहरणभूतेयं भर्तृदेवतयोषिताम् ॥२०९।। पश्य मातरमुज्झित्वा नेत्राम्बुप्लाविताननाम् । एष लक्ष्मीधरो गन्तुमुद्युक्तो ज्यायसा समम् ॥२१०॥ अहो प्रीतिरहो मक्तिरहो शक्तिरहो क्षमा । अहो विनयसंमारः श्रीमतोऽस्य विराजते ॥२११॥ भरतस्य किमाकूतं कृतं दशरथेन किम् । रामलक्ष्मणयोरेषा का मनीषा व्यवस्थिता ॥२१२॥ कालः कर्मेश्वरो दैवं स्वभावः पुरुषः क्रिया । नियतिर्वा करोत्येवं विचित्रं कः समीहितम् ॥२१३॥ वर्ततेऽनुचितं बाढं व गता स्थानदेवता । एवमादिस्तदा जज्ञे ध्वनिर्जनसमूहतः ॥२१॥ कुमाराभ्यां समं गन्तुमुत्सुके सकले जने । पुरी शून्यगृहा जाता नष्टाशेषसमुत्सवा ।।२१५।।
पुष्पप्रकरसंपूर्णाः समस्ता द्वारभूमयः । पिच्छलत्वं समानीताः शोकपूर्णजनाश्रुभिः ।।२१६।। रहे थे ॥२०२॥ परन्त दोनों भाई दढ निश्चयको प्राप्त थे और सान्त्वना देने में अत्यन्त निपुण थे इसलिए उन्होंने बार-बार चरणोंमें गिरकर माता-पिताको बडी कठिनाईसे वापस किया ॥२०३।। उन्होंने भाई-बन्धुओंको बहुत लौटाया फिर भी वे लौटे नहीं। अन्तमें जिस प्रकार स्वर्गसे देव बाहर निकलते हैं उसी प्रकार दोनों भाई राजमहलसे बाहर निकले ॥२०४|| 'हे माता! यह क्या हो रहा है ? यह ऐसा किसका मत था ? अर्थात् किसके कहनेसे यह सब हुआ है ? यह नगरी बड़ी अभागिन है अथवा नगरी ही क्यों समस्त पृथिवी अभागिन है ।।२०५।। अब हम इनके साथ ही चलेंगे, इनके साथ रहनेसे सब दुःख दूर हो जायेगा। ये दोनों ही दुःखरूपी पर्वतकी गुहासे उद्धार करने में अत्यन्त समर्थ हैं ।।२०६॥ देखो, यह सीता कैसी जा रही है ? पदिने इसे साथ चलनेको अनुमति दे दी है। देवर इसका सब काम ठीक कर देगा ॥२०७॥ अहो! जो विनयरूपी वस्त्रसे आवृत होकर पतिके पीछे-पीछे जा रही है ऐसी यह रूपवती जानकी अत्यन्त धन्य है-बड़ी भाग्यवती है ।।२०८॥ हमारी स्त्रियोंकी भी ऐसी ही गति हो। यह पतिव्रता स्त्रियोंके लिए उदाहरणस्वरूप है ॥२०९।। अहो ! देखो, जिसका मुख आँसुओंसे भीग रहा है ऐसी माताको छोड़कर यह लक्ष्मण बड़े भाईके साथ जानेके लिए उद्यत हुआ है ।।२१०|| अहो! इस लक्ष्मणकी प्रीति धन्य है, भक्ति धन्य है, शक्ति धन्य है, क्षमा धन्य है और विनयका समूह धन्य है ।।२११|| भरतका क्या अभिप्राय था? और राजा दशरथने यह क्या कर दिया? राम-लक्ष्मणके भी यह कौन-सी बुद्धि उत्पन्न हुई है ? ॥२१२॥ यह सब काल, कर्म, ईश्वर, दैव, स्वभाव, पुरुष, क्रिया अथवा नियति ही कर सकती है। ऐसी विचित्र चेष्टाको और दूसरा कोन कर सकता है ? |२१३।। यह सब बड़ा अनुचित हो रहा है। इस स्थानके देवता कहाँ गये' ? उस समय लोगोंकी भीड़से इस प्रकारके शब्द निकल रहे थे ॥२१४||
उस समय समस्त लोग राम-लक्ष्मणके साथ जानेके लिए उत्सक हो रहे थे इसलिए नगरीके समस्त घर सूने हो गये थे तथा नगरीका समस्त उत्सव नष्ट हो गया था ।।२१५।। समस्त घरोंके दरवाजोंकी जो भूमियां पहले फूलोंके समूहसे व्याप्त रहती थीं वे उस समय शोकसे भरे १. व्रत म.। २. नाथेनानुमोदिता म.
