जमितं जलपूरेण समं सर्वं नतोन्नतम् | अतिवेगप्रवृत्तेन प्रखलस्येव चेतसा ॥५५॥ भूमौ गर्जन्ति तोयौधा विहायसि घनाघनाः । अन्विष्यन्त इवाराति निदाघसमयं द्रुतम् ॥ ५६ ॥ कन्दलैर्निविडैश्छेन्ना धरा निर्झरशोभिनः । अत्यन्तजलभारेण पतिता जलदा इव ॥ ५७ ॥ स्थलीदेशेषु दृश्यन्ते स्फुरन्तः शक्रगोपकाः । घनचूर्णितसूर्यस्य खण्डा इव महीं गताः ||५८ || चचार वैद्युतं तेजो दिक्षु सर्वासु सत्वरम् । पूरितापूरितं देशं पश्यच्चक्षुरिवाम्बरम् ॥५९॥ मण्डितं शुक्रचापेन गगनं चित्रतेजसा । अत्यन्तोन्नतियुक्तेन तोरणेनेव चारुणा ॥ ६०॥ कूलद्वयनिपातिन्यो मीमावर्ता महाजवाः । वहन्ति कलुषा नद्यः स्वच्छन्दप्रमदा इव ।।६१|| घनाघनरवत्रस्ता हरिणीचकितेक्षणा । आलिलिङ्गुतं स्तम्भान्नार्यः प्रोषितभर्तृकाः ॥ ६२ ॥ गर्जितेनातिरौद्रेण जर्जरीकृतचेतनाः । प्रोषिता विह्वलीभूताः 'प्रमदाशाहितेक्षणाः ॥ ६३ ॥ अनुकम्पापराः शान्ता निर्ग्रन्थमुनिपुङ्गवाः । प्रासुकस्थानमासाद्य चातुर्मासीत्र तं श्रिताः ॥ ६४ ॥ गृहीतां श्रावकैः शक्त्या नानानियमकारिभिः । दिग्विरामव्रतं साधुसेवातत्परमानसैः ॥६५॥ एवं महति संप्राप्ते समये जलदाकुले । निर्ग्रन्थौ तौ पितापुत्रौ यथोक्ताचारकारिणौ ॥ ६६ ॥ वृक्षान्धकारगम्भीरं बहुव्यालसमाकुलम् । गिरिपादमहादुर्गं रौद्राणामपि भीतिदम् ||६७ ||
जिस प्रकार अतिशय दुष्ट मनुष्यका चित्त ऊँच-नीच सबको समान कर देता है उसी प्रकार वेगसे बहनेवाले जलके पूरने ऊँची-नीची समस्त भूमिको समान कर दिया था ||५५ ॥ पृथिवीपर जलके समूह गरज रहे थे और आकाश में मेघोंके समूह गर्जना कर रहे थे उससे ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो वे भागे हुए ग्रीष्मकालरूपी शत्रुको खोज ही रहे थे ॥ ५६ ॥ झरनोंसे सुशोभित पर्वत अत्यन्त सघन कन्दलोंसे आच्छादित हो गये थे । उससे वे ऐसे जान पड़ते थे मानो जलके बहुत भारी भारसे मेघ ही नीचे गिर पड़े हों ॥ ५७॥ वनकी स्वाभाविक भूमिमें जहाँ-तहाँ चलते-फिरते इन्द्रगोप ( वीरबहूटी) नामक कीड़े दिखाई देते थे । जो ऐसे जान पड़ते थे मानो मेघोंके द्वारा चूर्णीभूत सूर्यके टुकड़े ही पृथिवीपर आ पड़े हों || ५८ || बिजलीका तेज जल्दी-जल्दी समस्त दिशाओंमें घूम रहा था उससे ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो आकाशका नेत्र 'कौन देश जलसे भरा गया और कौन देश नहीं भरा गया' इस बात को देख रहा था ॥५९॥ अनेक प्रकारके तेजको धारण करनेवाले इन्द्रधनुषसे आकाश ऐसा सुशोभित हो गया मानो अत्यन्त ऊँचे सुन्दर तोरणसे ही सुशोभित हो गया हो ||६०|| जो दोनों तटों को गिरा रही थीं, जिनमें भयंकर आवर्त उठ रहे थे, और जो बड़े वेग से बह रही थीं ऐसी कलुषित नदियाँ व्यभिचारिणी स्त्रियोंके समान जान पड़ती थीं ॥६९॥ जो मेघों की गर्जनासे भयभीत हो रहीं थीं, तथा जिनके नेत्र हरिणीके समान चंचल थे ऐसी प्रोषितभर्तृका स्त्रियाँ शीघ्र ही खम्भोंका आलिंगन कर रही थीं || ६२ || अत्यन्त भयंकर गर्जनासे जिनकी चेतना जर्जर हो रही थी ऐसे प्रवासी-परदेशी मनुष्य जिस दिशा में स्त्री थी उसी दिशामें नेत्र लगाये हुए विह्वल हो रहे थे ||६३ || सदा अनुकम्पा ( दया ) के पालन करनेमें तत्पर रहनेवाले दिगम्बर मुनिराज प्रासु स्थान पाकर चातुर्मास व्रतका नियम लिये हुए थे || ६४ || जो शक्ति के अनुसार नाना प्रकार व्रत नियम आखड़ी आदि धारण करते थे तथा सदा साधुओंकी सेवामें तत्पर रहते थे ऐसे श्रावकोंने दिग्व्रत धारण कर रखा था || ६५ || इस प्रकार मेघोंसे युक्त वर्षाकालके उपस्थित होनेपर आगमानुकूल आचारको धारण करनेवाले दोनों पिता-पुत्र निर्ग्रन्थ साधु कीर्तिधर मुनिराज और सुकोशलस्वामी इच्छानुसार विहार करते हुए उस श्मशानभूमिमें आये जो वृक्षोंके अन्धकार से १. प्रस्खलस्येव म., ख. । २. रिछन्ना म. । ३. गोपगा: म., ज. 1 ४. यस्यामाशायां दिशि प्रमदा तस्यामाशायामाहितेक्षणाः प्रदत्तलोचनाः । ५. चतुर्णां मासानां समाहारश्चातुर्मासी तस्या व्रतम् । ६. दिग्विरामश्रितं म ।

They looked as if the pieces of the sun, ground by the clouds, had fallen on the earth. ||58|| The lightning was moving quickly in all directions, as if the eye of the sky was looking to see which country was filled with water and which was not. ||59|| The sky was adorned with a rainbow, holding many kinds of brilliance, as if it were adorned with a very high and beautiful archway. ||60|| The polluted rivers, which were bringing down both banks, in which terrible whirlpools were rising, and which were flowing with great speed, looked like adulterous women. ||61|| The women who were frightened by the roar of the clouds, and whose eyes were as fickle as those of a deer, were quickly embracing the pillars. ||62|| The emigrants, whose consciousness was being shaken by the extremely terrible roar, were bewildered, with their eyes fixed in the direction where the woman was. ||63|| The Digambar Muni Rajas, who were always eager to practice compassion (mercy), having reached the Prasoo place, had taken the vow of the Chaturmas Vrat. ||64|| The Shravakas, who were observing various kinds of vows, such as Aakhari, etc., according to their strength, and who were always eager to serve the saints, had taken the Digvrat. ||65|| Thus, when the rainy season arrived, filled with clouds, the two father and son, the Nirgrantha saints Kirtidhar Muni Raj and Sukoshal Swami, observing the appropriate conduct, came to the cremation ground, which was filled with the darkness of trees, 1.
