पद्मपुराणे गुरवः परमार्थेन यदि न स्युभवादृशाः । अधस्ततो धरित्रीयं ब्रजेन्मुक्ता धरैरिव ॥१५॥ पुण्यवानस्मि यत्पूज्यो ददाति मम शासनम् । भवद्विधनियोगानां न पदं पुण्यवर्जिताः ॥१६॥ तदद्यारभ्य संचित्य मनोजं क्रियतां तथा । यथा शक्रस्य सौस्थित्यं जायते मम च प्रभो ॥१७॥ अयं शक्रो मम भ्राता तुरीयः सांप्रतं बली। एनं प्राप्य करिष्यामि पृथिवीं वीतकण्टकाम् ॥१८॥ लोकपालास्तथैवास्य तच्च राज्यं यथा पुरा । ततोऽधिकं वा गृह्णातु विवेकेन किमावयोः ॥१९॥ आज्ञा च मम शके वा दातव्या कृत्यवस्तुनि । गुरुभिः सा हि शेषेव रक्षालंकारकारणम् ॥२०॥ आस्यतामिह वा छन्दादथवा स्थनूपुरे । यत्र वेच्छत का भूमिभृत्ययोरावयोर्मता ॥२१॥ इति प्रियवचोवारिसमार्दीकृतमानसः । अवोचत सहस्रारस्ततोऽपि मधुरं वचः ॥२२॥ नूनं भद्र समुत्पत्तिः सज्जनानां भवादृशाम् । सममेव गुणैः सर्वलोका लादनकारिभिः ॥२३॥ आयुष्मन्नस्य शौर्यस्य विनयोऽयं तवोत्तमः । अलंकारसमस्तेऽस्मिन् भुवने इलाध्यतां गतः ॥२४॥ भवतो दर्शनेनेदं जन्म मे सार्थकं कृतम् । पितरौ पुण्यवन्तौ तौ त्वया यौ कारणीकृतौ ॥२५॥ क्षमावता समर्थन कुन्दनिर्मलकोतिना । दोषाणां संभवाशङ्का त्वया दरमपाकृता ॥२६॥ एवमेतद्यथा वक्षिं सर्व संपद्यते त्वयि । ककुष्करिकराकारौ कुरुतः किं न ते भुजौ ॥२७॥
किंतु मातेव नो शक्या त्यक्तुं जन्मवसुंधरा । सा हि क्षणाद्वियोगेन कुरुते चित्तमाकुलम् ॥२८॥ मैं आपकी आज्ञाका उल्लंघन कैसे कर सकता हूँ ? ॥१४॥ यदि यथार्थमें आप-जैसे गुरुजन न होते तो यह पृथिवी पर्वतोंसे छोड़ो गयी के समान रसातलको चली जाती ॥१५।। चूंकि आप-जैसे पूज्यपुरुष मुझे आज्ञा दे रहे हैं अतः मैं पुण्यवान् हूँ। यथार्थमें आप-जैसे पुरुषोंकी आज्ञाके पात्र पुण्यहीन मनुष्य नहीं हो सकते ॥१६।। इसलिए हे प्रभो! आज आप विचारकर ऐसा उत्तम कार्य कीजिए जिससे इन्द्र और मुझमें सौहाद्रं उत्पन्न हो जाये । इन्द्र सुखसे रहे और मैं भी सुखसे रह सकूँ ॥१७॥ यह बलवान् इन्द्र मेरा चौथा भाई है, इसे पाकर मैं पृथ्वीको निष्कण्टक कर दूंगा ॥१८॥ इसके लोकपाल पहलेकी तरह ही रहें तथा इसका राज्य भी पहलेकी तरह ही रहे अथवा उससे भी अधिक ले ले। हम दोनोंमें भेदको आवश्यकता ही क्या है ? ॥१९॥ आप जिस प्रकार इन्द्रको आज्ञा देते हैं उसी प्रकार मुझमें करने योग्य कार्यकी आज्ञा देते रहें क्योंकि गुरुजनोंकी आज्ञा ही शेषाक्षतकी तरह रक्षा एवं शोभाको करनेवाली है ॥२०॥ आप अपने अभिप्रायके अनुसार यहाँ रहें अथवा रथनूपुर नगरमें रहें अथवा जहाँ इच्छा हो वहां रहें। हम दोनों आपके सेवक हैं हमारी भूमि हो कौन है ? ॥२१॥ इस प्रकारके प्रियवचनरूपी जलसे जिसका मन भीग रहा था ऐसा सहस्रार रावणसे भी अधिक मधुर वचन बोला ॥२२॥
उसने कहा कि हे भद्र ! आप-जैसे सज्जनोंकी उत्पत्ति समस्त लोगोंको आनन्दित करनेवाले गुणोंके साथ ही होती है ॥२३॥ हे आयुष्मन् ! तुम्हारी यह उत्तम विनय इस संसारमें प्रशंसाको प्राप्त है तथा तुम्हारी इस शूरवीरताके आभूषणके समान है ॥२४॥ आपके दर्शनने मेरे इस जन्मको सार्थक कर दिया। वे माता-पिता धन्य हैं जिन्हें तूने अपनी उत्पत्तिमें कारण बनाया है ॥२५॥ जो समर्थ होकर भी क्षमावान् है, तथा जिसकी कीर्ति कुन्दके फूलके समान निर्मल है ऐसे तूने दोषोंके उत्पन्न होनेकी आशंका दूर हटा दी है ॥२६॥ तू जैसा कह रहा है वह ऐसा ही है। तुझमें सर्व कार्य सम्भव हैं। दिग्गजोंकी सूंड़के समान स्थूल तेरी भुजाएँ क्या नहीं कर सकती हैं ॥२७॥ किन्तु जिस प्रकार माता नहीं छोड़ी जा सकती उसी प्रकार जन्मभूमि भी नहीं छोड़ी जा सकती

You, who are powerful yet forgiving, and whose fame is as pure as the white lotus, have removed the fear of the occurrence of faults. ||26||
It is as you say, everything is possible for you. What cannot your arms, which are as thick as the trunks of elephants, do? ||27||
But just as a mother cannot be abandoned, so too cannot one's birthplace be abandoned.
