POLITICAL HISTORY OF N. INDIA FROM JAIN SOURCES
was ruling was 700 yojanas (square)."
Poet Sriharşa: Jayacandra's name will be ever remembered in the history of Samskệt literature for patronising the renowned poet Sriharşa, son of Hira by Mamalladevī. The Jain Rājasekhara in his Prabandha-kośa, states that his father Hira once was defeated by a court poet. But Śriharşa, in due course, having defeated his father's adversary established his prestige. However, one of Jayacandra's wives named Sūhavādevi had envy with him.? The statement that Sriharşa was in the court of Jayacandra is confirmed by the poet himself. Sriharsa, in the colophon of his chief work Naişadhiya carita states that he was honoured by the king of Kānyakubja with a pair of betel-leaves," perhaps it was a custom with Hindu Rājās to welcome men of eminence in this way. Thus the following kings of this dynasty are known from the Jain sources:
Candradeva
Govindacandra
Vijayacandra
Jayacandra Hariscandra alias Meghacandra
