denominative तपस्थति, which is derived from the word तपस् by affixing the termination क्यच् to it under the rule 'तपसः क्यच'. तितपसिषवः तपस्तप्तुमिच्छवः । तपस्यतेः 'तुमीच्छायां धोर्वोप्' इति सनि तदन्तात् 'सन्भि
क्षाशंसादुः' इत्युः । व्यर्थोद्योगाः - whose efforts are neutralized. व्यर्थाः . विफलाः उद्यमाः प्रयत्नाः येषां ते । वितृषः - having no interest. मयि वितृषः ।
taking no interest in me. विगता तृट् इच्छा येषां ते वितृषः। 'इच्छा काझा स्पृहेहा तृड् वाञ्छा लिप्सा मनोरथः' इत्यमरः । इन्दुशुभ्रम् - white like the moon. विहसितम् - an ironical smile. सलिलोद्गारम् - the discharge of water. The city of Alaka means to say that as the abode of the linerated soul is not known to any worldly being, who can assure that the efforts of the sages will be turned futile ? Under these circumstances, the sages ought to have taken interst for the city.
___Stanza. 84- मुक्ताजालग्रथितम् - encircled with nots of poarls. मुक्तानां मक्तिकमणानां जालेन ग्रथितं सन्हब्धम् । जालं आनायमिव जालम् । आनायसदृशं स्त्रीकेषभूषणमित्यर्थः । जालम् - a kind of ornament worn in the hair. अलकम् - curly hair. 'कुबेरस्यालका पुर्यामलकसूर्णकुन्तले' इति विश्वलोचने । अभ्रंलिहै: - scraping the clouds. अभ्रं लेढीति. अभ्रंलिट् । तैः । सोधेयाप्रै: - with the uppermost parts of her palaces or mansions. सोधानामिमानि सौधेयानि । सौधेयानि च तान्यग्राणि सौधेयाग्राणि । 'अग्रं त्रिषु प्रधाने स्थादग्रं मूर्धाधिकादिषु । पुरस्तात्पलमाने च बातेऽप्यालम्बनान्तयोः' इति विश्वलोचने । गगनपरिषत्केतुमालाबलाकम् - having cranes in the form of the rows of flags moring in all directions in the sky. गगन आकाशदेशे परितः सर्वतः सीदन्ति चलन्तीति गगनपरिषन्तः। गगनप्रदेशे विचलन्तः इत्यर्थः । गगनपरिषन्तश्च ते केतवः ध्वजाश्च । तेषां माला पङ्क्तिः एव बलाकाः पक्षिविशेषाः यस्य तत् । 'षद्ल विशरणगत्यवसादनेषु' इति षद्लधोगत्यर्थत्वात्सीदतेश्चलनार्थत्वम् । रत्नोदग्रातिविरचितेन्द्रायुधम् - possessing a rain-bow formed by the •ends of the rays of jewels shooting upwards. उद्गतानि अग्राणि कोटयः यासां ताः उदग्राः। उदग्राश्च ताः युतयश्च उदग्रातयः । रत्नानां उदग्रातयः रत्नोदग्रद्युतयः । तामिविरचितं इन्द्रायुधं इन्द्रधनुस्मिस्तत् । प्रावृषेण्यम् - produced in the rainy season. प्रादृषि भवं प्रावृषेण्यम् । सजल कणिकासारम् -
