चर्मण्वती इति सुतरां युक्तम् is absolutely deserving. In marathi, the word

the name Charmanvati given to that river चर्मन् - ( 1 ) a shield, ( 2 ) a water bag. means पखाल, मोट'. The stanza implies that the river, as she possesses the reflection of the cloud, resembling a shield or a water-bag used for drawing water (form a well, deserves to be called चर्मण्वती.

Stanza 38. . राहोः सवर्णे - possessing colour or complexion similar to that of Rahu. समानः वर्णः कान्तिः यस्य स सवर्णः । The word समान, when followed by words of धर्मादि class, is changed to स under समानस्य धर्मादिषु ' ज्योत्स्ना विसरविमलं as transparent as (or transparent on account of) the diffusion of the moonlight. ज्योत्स्नायाः विसरवद् विसरेण वा विमलं विगतमलम् । निर्मलमित्यर्थः । Hore, the word ज्योत्स्ना विसर, the standard of comparison, is compounded with the word fa, implying the common property, under the rule ' सामान्येनोपमानम्'. नभोगाः - sky-wanderess. नमसा विहायसा गच्छन्तीति नभोगाः । दुकूलोत्तरीयम् - a silken white garment, upper garment. दुकूलं - a silkon garment. दुकूल: thin garment. उत्तरीयम् ban uppe garment. दुकूलमद्वयोः क्षौमे दुकूलः सूक्ष्मवाससि' इति विश्वलोचने. The current of the river is compared with a white garment having its interior part possessing dark colour owing to its interior surface baving the dark-coloured body of the cloud reflected in it.
Stanza 39 - विद्युद्वर्भाविततवपुषम्
with the body encircled with a leathern thong in the form of lightning विद्युत् सौदामन्येव वर्षी विद्युद्व । ' वर्धते दीर्घीभवति चर्मरज्जुत्वाद्वर्षी ' इति क्षीरस्वामी । तया विशेषेण ततं व्याप्तं वपुः शरीरं यस्य सः । तम् । विद्युद्वरत्रासं व्याप्तदेह मित्यर्थः । ' नद्भ्रू वर्त्री वरत्रा स्यात् ' इत्यमरः । कालिका कर्बुराङ्गम् - with body darkened like smoke.. कालिकया कार्येण कर्बुरं चित्रमङ्गं शरीरं यस्य सः। तम् । ‘चित्रं किमरकस्माषशबलैताश्च कर्बुरे' इत्यमरः । यद्वा कालिकेव रोमावलीक, वायसीव, मेघजालमिव, धूम इव, नवनीरद इव वा कर्बुरं शबलं अङ्गं यस्य सः ।
